This version of Taillon is very satisfying. The defense not so much.

Maybe I’m just a bitter meatball, but even as bad as things have been offensively, I’m more upset they didn’t score more than I am grateful for the two runs. So frustrating.

I know Boob sucks, but could this be scuttlebutt due to other execs noticing the increased level of activity on the part of the Cubs in pursuing alternatives? I could see how they are laying the groundwork to pivot in case Ohtani *doesn’t* sign with the Cubs, and others are taking that as waning optimism.

Speculation is fun and has that kid-waiting-for-Christmas-morning vibe, but I just don’t see how anyone will know until something officially happens. I have my doubts the Cubs will prevail, but until there’s an official announcement to the contrary, hope remains. edit: by “anyone,” I mean fans and non-industry folk.

I know that expectations for this team were fairly low before the start of this season, but man, this sucks. Injuries are unfortunate and always untimely, but the ridiculous decisions on lineup construction and in-game strategies have been mind-numbingly dumb and have substantially contributed to the implosion. So disappointing.
