  1. It pretty much comes down to believing in the secrecy or believing in the smoke. The smoke recently says Blue Jays or Dodgers. The secrecy probably says the Cubs. So who knows. I don’t think it’s the Cubs, but I hope we get an answer soon.
  2. I wonder what the hold up is. Feels pretty obvious the Cubs are gonna get him at this point.
  3. I guess we shall see. If Glasnow/Hoskins is the base of the start of the offseason, they better be dealing for another big bat.
  4. Reads more like Ohtani/Soto with bullpen pieces to supplement to me. Which makes no sense with Ohtani/Soto momentum basically gone.
  5. This contradicts the Hoskins/Glasnow being primary targets storyline, so that’s weird.
  6. Tired of hearing quotes like this every offseason. We are never going to get elite talent when this is always the soundbite after. EDIT: I know this is the right thing for him to say and you should always plan to pivot if Plan A isn’t possible. However, it’s annoying that Plan A never comes to fruition. It’s always Plan B with this team.
  7. It wouldn’t be a bad idea if we haven’t kicked the can down the road on shelling out for star players each of the last handful of years. Recent history shows we are gonna keep on kicking. It's sad.
  8. I’m in on that.
  9. Also, the Angels aren’t in LA. They are in Orange County. Hardly anybody in LA actually cares about the Angels and he’s absolutely not the biggest star here. I can think of 10 LA athletes off the cuff that get more attention here. If anything, picking the Angels shows he wants less attention.
  10. Given the state of the NL Central, that shouldn’t that difficult. But producing a World Series contender is going to be difficult without any star level talent being injected into the roster. Perhaps there is a trade that gets us that player. But right now, our offseason is looking a little deflating.
  11. Disappointing, but yeah if someone is willing to pay that price, they can have Soto.
  12. Yeah I think that’s what it is.
  13. That reads like they have a package basically there, but whether or not the Cubs pull the trigger is contingent upon other transactions.
  14. We don’t know that we didn’t get a meeting though. Our brass in Nashville played coy on it and the Dodgers backtracked heavily after Robert’s said they had a meeting. Maybe we have had a meeting and nobody knows. Maybe we haven’t and we are meeting with him soon. Who knows?
  15. Bob doing the Cubs a favor after that Ohtani report lmao
  16. He’s got the Dodgers on the ropes and smells blood. Regardless, I feel a little better now about this. Still don’t think we get him, but it’s not doom and gloom anymore for me.
  17. Oh I agree. But if he doesn’t sign with the Dodgers, their fans will absolutely blame Roberts for it.
  18. As someone who is friends with a lot of Dodgers fans who already hate Roberts, they will want his head if he costs them Ohtani.
  19. Maybe we haven’t met with him yet and that’s why we are “falling behind?”
  20. There’s no shot Morel/Glasnow is the base of a deal. No shot.
  21. Wouldn’t be shocking at all.
