  1. Not only that, but they haven’t traded for anybody of significance in a long time either. Which means they’re literally never going to acquire top talent if they won’t pay them or trade for them. It’s sad.
  2. If the foundation of the offseason is Bellinger and Hoskins, I can at least live with that. Then trade for pitching.
  3. This wait and see approach is a great way to ensure you only sign/trade for B and C tier players. As we have seen, all it takes is one team to be willing to shell out for the big time players. It happens time and time again. Big time players will never make it to us. It’s pathetic that a big market team like the Cubs is operating like this.
  4. Yeah I get it. I’m just trying to get impact talent on the MLB roster and he’d be a perfect fit. We won’t get into a bidding war though, so I doubt we get him.
  5. You’re probably right. It just feels like a team that runs into a Braves or Dodgers in the postseason and gets boat-raced though. Just due to difference in Star power.
  6. I’d like if they could grab Bellinger, Hoskins, and trade for Cease. I know Bieber costs less, but I don’t think it’s impactful enough.
  7. I admire your hope that next offseason is the one where the Cubs actually shell out of the top free agents.
  8. Bellinger, Cease, and Eloy would be fun.
  9. Yeah I think this will be my last offseason getting my hopes up. So disappointed.
  10. I’d put Bellinger in CF if you resign him and then trade PCA. He will likely get back a lot. I think you can get a controllable starter and more for PCA. Then sign Hoskins and sign/trade for another bat.
  11. Morel’s team is playing him a ton at 3B recently. I’ll say, the lineup looks a lot better if he’s there almost every day. I hope he can hold it down there so we can add two bigger bats at 1B/DH.
  12. It would be nice if the Cubs flexed their financial muscle like that every once in a while.
  13. Please let these random internet gremlins be right.
  14. I’ve always said CJ Golson is a trustworthy guy.
  15. Yep. Literally nothing. Either nothing is going on… or they’re tight lipped for a reason. I’m huffing on hopium.
  16. He may still go to the Jays, but a little faith has been restored for me. I have no idea what to make of what’s going on. I will say though, it’s odd that not one major Chicago/Cubs reporter has said anything today, despite everything going on. Could just be that absolutely nothing is happening, but it’s just odd. Not one comment.
  17. Gotta say this is one of the more wild days I’ve seen for a singular free agent.
  18. What the hell is going on?
  19. Maybe he’s just going to tour the stadium or whatever?
  20. For a guy who didn’t want a rollercoaster, Ohtani is certainly getting one.
  21. He could just be replying to the momentum around the Jays.
  22. Maybe he’s going to Toronto to tell them in person that he’s a Cub lmao
  23. If we do somehow get Ohtani I’m definitely pacing around my living room for the next 24 hours.
