  1. I know he just hit that clutch hr but I wouldn't extend Candelario either.
  2. Today feels like a must win with Taillon going tomorrow. Makes the sting of that blown game last night all that much worse.
  3. Hoyer needs to release Smyly before Ross puts him back in the rotation
  4. Yeah it's weird how some were deluding themselves to think he was the best option.
  5. Yeah the injured 60 day IL players don't count against the 40 man, but you can use the loophole if they have been on the IL for 60 plus days. But the prospects have to be added to the 40 man in the first place regardless. This just means the timing doesn't matter
  6. Taken from bleachernation: "But what about prospects who weren’t on the 40-man until they were called up, say, on September 5? Well, that’s still easy enough: you can also include players on the playoff roster as “injury replacements,” taking the place of ANYONE on the 60-day IL, as long as that player has been out his 60+ days. By the time late-September rolls around, literally every team in baseball history has at least a couple guys on the 60-day IL. So if you want some youngsters on the playoff roster, boom, they “replace” the injured guys. For the Cubs, there are already FIVE guys on the 60-day IL, several of whom are simply not going to return this year. So the playoff roster thing is – like every year – a non-issue. Were you in the organization as of August 31? Cool. You can be on the playoff roster, no problem." Tl;Dr : you can designate non 40 man players in the minors as injury replacements and they are thus eligible
  7. Probably has more to do with his 4 mil mutual option for next season.
  8. I agree with Hairyducked Idiot about the depth, also Ohtani wouldn't be pitching next year if he's the big addition also think Yamamoto would be pitching every 6 days so there would be need for another starter. Idk about their interest in any of the other top arms.
  9. Yeah I think picking up the Hendricks option is the best choice now. Maybe decline the club option and tack on an extra year at a lower AAV
  10. Feels like Leiter often struggles too when he's sent in mid inning. Just a feeling idk the numbers
  11. Gutsy outing for Steele. Would be a real dick punch if the pen blows it
  12. A lot of hard contact that inning, maybe the third time around will do it
  13. Damn I forgot how waiver claims work. Really doubt the Cubs can get what they need. Maybe some of the other contenders cheap out hopefully.
  14. The angels just put some solid players on waivers. Would be cool to get Moore
  15. Burnes has pitched a few bad ones recently, hopefully the offense can wake up a bit.
  16. Brewers fan friend of mine was saying he'd feel good about this series as long as they didn't get swept. Sucks they totally wet their pants tonight, looked outmatched.
  17. Smyly and Taillon, probably the worst two pitchers on the staff
