  1. So Smyly to the pen. Assad starting against TOR Friday.
  2. Yep. I'm worried for a let down series with this being games 14/15/16 in a row and we absolutely used up our pen the last 4 games. Hopefully the boys can power through it and get another series win against a currently trash team.
  3. We absolutely need Stro to come back and give competitive starts. I’m worried Steele is running out of gas with his innings building up. I haven’t fact checked this yet, but seems like his fastball velo has been trending down.
  4. Definitely need to add some speed on our bench for those scenarios this fall….
  5. Nice, I didn't think they would actually do it.
  6. Since being called back up on June 9th (80 PA), Madrigal has a 138 wRC+ while playing stellar defense. As long as we take ABs away from Mancini and Wisdom, I'm all for Madrigal getting PT.
  7. For this year, he had a wrist injury at the beginning of June that they were saying would take 3-4 weeks to recover. He came back in 10 days because the Mets were all hands on deck trying to win and it was apparent he shouldn't of been back and struggled. He's finally getting back to his old self. Pre (June 8th) wrist injury this season in 261 PA - 22 homers & 139 wRC+. Was on pace for a monster season.
  8. Let’s roll and continue to add.
  9. Yep, don't like it.
  10. Sewald to the DBacks
  11. Westburg pulled. We’ll see if this turns into the O’s big move or if it’s nothing.
  12. The argument against that is we need to add better arms to the pen for 24 and beyond. I would hope to hell we are also competing in 24, 25, and 26, in which Bednar would be a huge help. Of course we don’t do it for a rental closer like Chapman. This is just as much about the future as it is the present.
  13. Yea, I’m not sure how it went from a few of us saying we wouldn’t move Horton for a RP to this notion that we aren’t willing to move anyone. I personally like the idea of adding Bednar for 3.5 years. But not for Horton.
  14. No problem. I now know it auto adds “Rumor:” to the title lol.
  15. The team needs a spark. Very dull game from them so far.
  16. I have faith in our pitching infrastructure starting with Carter Hawkins on down. We absolutely couldn’t develop pitching years ago. I understand the point you are making and typically agree to take the big leaguer over a prospect. I personally think Horton is going to be special and I’m not moving him for Bednar/RP.
  17. I’m not moving Horton for Bednar. However, I do hope the Cubs are swimming in these types of waters of high end cost controlled talent.
  18. The Cubs have shown interest in Pirates' right-handed reliever, David Bednar. Bednar is a late-bloomer and has emerged as Pittsburgh's closer over the past two seasons, during which he has a 2.03 ERA in 93.1 innings pitched, while striking out 11.7 batters per nine innings. He will come at a costly price. Bednar is under arbitration through the conclusion of the 2026 season. He fits in with a longer-term play by Jed Hoyer but should the Cubs choose to go this route, expect the prospects going to Pittsburgh to be significant. Bednar would take a haul obviously with his 3.5 years of control. What type of package would it take? View full rumor

  20. If Happ needs a day off, I’m sitting him against a lefty. I’m not letting 32 PA in July dictate that. However, if the argument is we need all hands on deck today, then yea I can but into that. But if you’re sitting Happ, sitting him against a lefty has been the play for a better part of his career.
  21. I guess if you’re going to give him an off day it’s best to do it against a lefty.
  22. Looking ahead to that crucial game 1 of the Reds series. Stro vs Abbott wowzer. Then Steele vs Lively after the deadline. Going to be intense with a lot on the line.
