  1. if people are calling jacque jones at home, all i can say is that i'd like to get his number too
  2. we already ruined him, it'd just be mean to make him come back.
  3. more like SHIZturis
  4. vs lhp, 2006 67 at bats 313/420/522 vs lhp, 2003-2005 374 at bats 291/392/497 someone's going to get a nice little player.
  5. guzman's whole career is a giant return from arm injury. i'm not saying you cut him or anything, but thinking he's ever going to be healthy (unless you convert him to dh) seems pretty silly.
  6. i assumed this thread had been bumped congratulating the other teams on winning next season. we can probably go ahead and do that.
  7. there's no way you were getting compensation for maddux anyway, since you'd have to offer him arby and he'd accept. i guess you could hope that somebody signed him early on in free agency, but the only team that stupid is the cubs.
  8. hopefully maddux seriously injures one of our good players* in a game sometime soon * jk i meant to say zambrano since everyone else sucks
  9. DOORS DOORS DOORS DOORS COME ON ROCKET DON'T EVEN ACT LIKE YOU AREN'T VOTING DOORS THIS TIME
  10. metallica sucks no one should vote for them
  11. Kobe will never be thought of the same again. Bad enough he was an adulterer, but a lot of people just assume he raped the woman based on nothing more than an accusation. The Duke "rapes" are another prime example. These men had their entire character ruined forever because one woman embellished an accusation. it's a bit of a leap to say they didn't do anything just because they weren't found guilty. also, the duke guys will be out of this as soon as they graduate as long as they dont feel the need to bold the fact that they were on the team on their resume.
  12. it'd be silly if zeppelin didn't win this whole tournament, let alone this matchup with bone-o
  13. boooooo how can you not vote floyd
  14. this likely begins my run of voting against the beatles. i don't know the future matchups or anything, but im voting based on who i'd like to sit down and listen to, and the beatles are going to lose out to a pretty hearty number of the bands remaining for me.
  15. Read the article, sir. The EMail was sent to my site, to Desipio, to View from the Bleachers, to 1060, and to Bleed Cubbie Blue, among others. A strong majority of people who read the EMail thought that the "feel free to boo Dusty" comment was in bad taste. I was not the only one who voiced my opinion on the matter, but for whatever reason, my column was picked up by Deadspin, a second EMail was quickly sent out by ESPN, they soon began to deny the very existence of the EMail, Teddy Greenstein picked it up for the Tribune, and here we are. I just expressed my opinion on the subject and, feeling sorry for Baker, gave someone a heads up. I didn't call up the radio stations, I didn't EMail the news papers. I think the situation speaks for itself, and if you actually took the time to read any of the columns, you would see that I am not trying to set myself up as some "hero." I posted info about it here because it's an interesting topic. If it wasn't interesting, you wouldn't be discussing it still. if it's really nothing and you don't care about it, it's kinda weird that you started a thread about it and linked to your blog.
  16. those are actually cub fans who had been drinking at wrigley all day
  17. well, somebody new read your blog and you got to be an f-list internet sports celebrity for about 30 seconds, so i guess it worked out in your favor. kinda lame if you ask me though.
  18. i voted ac/dc and expected to be in the small minority, but i was wrong. hooray
  19. my reason for not going certainly isn't to punish the Tribune. there is an element of that, but the main reason is because after the raised hopes of the past couple years and the way things have turned out, it physically pains me to watch them play. that's really what it is. the only way i can watch them on tv is if i laugh and root for failure, but when i go it just reminds of what it was like in 2004 and how great everything should've been.
  20. i went to two games during the detroit series. my section was probably one-third tigers fans, the cubs gave up like 6 runs in the first inning of each game, and it was terrible. i've been to chicago to see the cubs at least once every summer for the last 12 years. the last few years have seen multiple trips a year. that's over. it sucked and i didn't have a good time. i'll go back when i think the team might be fun. that, sadly, will probably be a while.
  21. wow you shouldnt act so elitist you dont even like the doors
  22. and i'm sure if you could steal gas anonymously on the internet you would to. I doubt you have the balls to go steal a CD from Best Buy what does that even mean it means he's going to justify stealing by saying that he only downloads imports or live stuff or rarities or whatever. First the "I hate the RIAA" excuse then another. Stealing is stealing the part in bold still makes no sense.
  23. what's so good about the doors? that's right, nothing. their lead singer has the coolest voice ever also, i dont constantly confuse all their famous songs for one another, as i do with ccr
