  1. That seems contradictory to what Theo and Jed have spoken openly about in the past. that makes so little sense that i'm not concerned about it in the slightest.
  2. excellent. everyone bookmark the link for future use.
  3. not me. i actually don't even know that girl (so it was a much bigger deal when i bit her).
  4. jay cutler went to vanderbilt, he can spell "imminent"
  5. They could probably get it on an installment plan. plus they could write it off
  6. With what they are paying Castro and Rizzo, they aren't expecting them to be the best players on the team. I still expect at least 1 mega free agent deal sometime in the next 2 offseasons. Who that will be is a mystery as there aren't likely too many big stars coming to free agency, especially hitters. What they are paying them has nothing to do with anything. Their salaries are based strictly on what each party's negotiating position was at the time of the deal. If they were banking on them being stars, they surely would've thrown an extra few mil on top, just for being awesome. it worked out perfectly with soriano.
  7. "oh boy seven runs! castro and rizzo must be killing it" [checks box score] [pulls spoon from drawer, applies antibacterial wipe to center of forehead]
  8. and he's terrible so let's keep getting expensive guys thanks for solving this riddle for us tt
  9. i really hate reading seemingly in line with the negative people from early 2012. "and things don't go great and they say the window starts in 2014. then 2015. then 2016."
  10. http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20120511213537/villains/images/f/f3/Elijah_Price.jpg YES
  11. thank god i didn't go to this stupid game
  12. what a great day. now that we are finally on track for 2019, we can start trading off these worthless prospects who are going to be expensive when the real waves of talent start coming in.
  13. Say what?!? we must have another deal in place that is getting us the rest of the pool money we need or there's a gas leak in the front office
  14. as people have alluded to, the real problem with this is the timing. if you make a trade like this right at the deadline, fine, nobody really wanted feldman so we'll just take some junk on the off-off-chance it becomes useful down the line. to make this trade now really seems to suggest we have gone 16-year old latin player stupid and actually highly valuing the ability to sign an extra ONE of these kids. signing those kids is fine and definitely something we should do, but not at the expense of, well, anything else. i wouldn't trade the mcdonald's for pool money, let alone actual useful major league baseball players.
  15. we had better really like these stropp and arietta dorks. if getting the bonus pool money was an actual major part of this deal, we are surprisingly dumb.
  16. this parks guy is good at prospects or whatever but the way he talks leaves me full of want and i kind of think he can shove it hope i did that right
  17. they want to limit the amount of trading that goes on. you can argue that it's a dumb end to pursue (though it is very much in keeping with the overall desire to limit amateur spending), but it's not just a dumb oversight that nobody thought to correct.
  18. is one of them! otherwise i have no idea.
  19. i might be at this game everyone give me advice for what to write on my tshirt before running onto the field and injecting anthony rizzo with steroids
  20. THEO REMEMBERED WHAT THE TRUE UNDERVALUED COMMODITY IS
  21. I would just because it'd be pretty cool to get a phone call from a Major League Baseball team. yeah dylan maybe they wanted you to be the team beat writer should've answered the phone dumbo
  22. With Ben Badler and Kiley McDaniel hiring that the Cubs have overextended themselves on $$ offers in the international free agent market, I believe that's a priority. FWIW http://www.chicagonow.com/cubs-den/2013/06/cubs-rumor-thread-cubs-scouting-jays-nats-heavily-both-teams-saw-garzas-dominant-start/ negotiating this is what you do in business if we don't trade for additional pool space we'll just write the extra guys off
  23. kind of going off of what tt was saying, but i don't understand the quick dismissal of tunney at this point. everyone keeps saying "oh the mayor is on our side, this alderman doesn't matter," but if that's all it takes, why isn't this done yet? we've been calling tunney a powerless nothing for months now, but we still haven't just stepped over him and gotten things done. i think we may be overselling our relative positions.
  24. are you crack wilson's landlord
