  1. I would say it definitely would not have been replayed as much, but I can tell you had I seen it as it was in real time - this guy would still have been upset. He shut it down before it hit the guy's glove. But HE probably doesn't do that if things were going well. And yes it was definitely time for a sitting down, probably even a couple of games before that. The two hits he got Saturday were both 6 hoppers just between first and second.
  2. I'm the stereotypical old man get off my lawn on this and - I get it, most people don't get that upset about not running it out in all circumstances. So be it. I don't think it's very much to ask, but that's just me. Whether Tuck didn't run because he was pouting and feeling sorry for himself (my opinion of why he didn't run) or it didn't matter he had no chance, or it was a business decision as there's a 1% chance he pulls a hammy trying to run fast - none really excuse it....at least for me. If it doesn't bother you at all I won't be upset with anyone who it doesn't bother. It's always going to bother me though.
  3. Those did feel great didn't they? It's been a while since I've smiled thinking about this team but last night made me smile. Those Milwaukee fans were all up in Wrigley hooting and hollering and the Cubbies pretty much silenced them - at least for a day and two games.
  4. You and I disagree on this one sir, and that's o.k. - I do understand what you are saying, but it really doesn't change the way I think of that particular instance. From what I observed it was much more a pouting, feeling sorry for himself, lack of effort than and I don't want to get hurt lack of effort, which by the way, I don't care much for either, but I realize the business decisions exist...I'll just never care for it.
  5. I'm honestly not prepared or inclined to give him excuses for this stretch, and if there is an injury it's absolutely on him to be honest about it. But on the not running to first, there is no inclination on that. That is inexcusable and there is probably not any other on field action that both disappoints and infuriates me as much as that.
  6. At this port there is in my opinion, without question a large mental component to this. The body language is very telling to me that most of our guys are feeling the anxiety we are feeling just watching them. They are pressing and it's showing.
  7. That IS strange. It appears from a quick check on Little that the control issues that forced his quick demotion earlier this year are still largely there.
  8. I am under no delusion that this solves our problem in the long run, we'll need our best hitter to be himself and not Jason Heyward like he's basically been the last 6 weeks and we'll need our other good hitters to at least start hitting to their mean the rest of the year. But sometimes one spark can re-set a team - I do believe that happens an exists. What's happening is in their heads pretty bad right now - I'm not saying - if he falls on his face which is a possibility, it's not like whoever's place he was taking was doing much better.
  9. We need to at least try something to get us out of our hitting malaise - get some juice. Hope he can give us a bump.
  10. Yet, I agree - looking back on this if the issue is it cost too much, and I'm not saying it doesn't, then we need to move in the offseason and not hope the stars align. Either way it's a Jed and Tom problem, gotta quit trying to always thread the needle. I mean I want to give them the benefit of the doubt I'm not one of the everything they do is wrong folks - I know alot of those. But man the really stepped in their own horsefeathers here.
  11. Not sure how many Yankee Stadium homers Belli has with that very short porch, it was made for a hitter like Tuck just like the Crawford boxes were made for Paredes....but Tuck has not been hitting many long fly balls of late so not sure how many balls that died in right for him would have been Yankee homers.....but I'm sure someone could did that up.
  12. It's amazing how all the teams with the better records are playing bad ball at the same time right now, never seen anything like it. And at least they limited the screen time for the child ump, I heard the social media outcry was so severe ESPN got the memo.
  13. Yep, Jed and Tom have earned criticism in this. But the biggest reason - not getting a starting pitcher, has not been the reason we are scuffling right now. We can't hit and our best hitters have all quit hitting at the same time. And it sure seems as if they cannot find their way back.....doesn't it. I mean logic says they will but geez it's hard to watch.
  14. All I can say is I'm glad I'm not a Mets fan. All our bitching the Mets went out and spent and spend and the can't beat anyone lately. And they paid the Cards closer and he could not pitch a scoreless 8th, the some guy I never heard of hits a walk off. It's gotta stop some time right? I do remember the Giants winning over 100 games fairly recently and no one could figure out how
  15. So then 3 different broadcast outlets will unfortunately deem it worthy to show the over and over again the whole game.
  16. This mediocre pitcher for the Cards actually looks better than the mediocre pitcher we could not score on. I'm all for raging on Jed and Tom but time for some of the guys we have on the roster to wake TFU and start hitting.
  17. this is REALLY frustrating. It feels to me like we might not score a run again this year. Of course I know that's ridiculous but when you can't score against the pitching we faced last night, what else are you to think. It's just really hard to watch and it looks like our guys are all pressing.
  18. I'm not as down with most of your reasons for feeling better, but I do believe Tuck, Seiya and PCA will have some good hitting stretches coming up.
  19. Supposedly, one of Zombro's specialty was injury prevention in pitching. Hell, was he consulted when they picked Soroka? Because I agree with you that dip in velocity was a huge red flag for everyone who read about it!!
  20. I know they have more advanced metrics and methods for determining stamina, innings, pitch numbers and are health, etc., but I guess everyone including me is so used to the old methods that none of us can believe he will be able to make it to the end of the season much less beyond.
  21. Yeah, it was strange last night his stuff was looking fantastic last night but was moving in such a way that he was not getting the borderline calls that were strikes. He walked the guy then same thing started happening so he changed something started getting rocked. I did not see the game today but maybe he was getting those calls and pumping the good stuff? And not sure how long Horton can keep pitching but man.....they keep saying his underlying numbers don't add up but all he's been putting up is zeroes.
  22. I felt like we could have played another 9 innings last night and would not have scored. The body language is terrible. And my confidence level is zero that we are going to start hitting any time soon,
  23. And it's been against mediocre pitching, that's just a fact. We appear very tight at the plate, the pressure is wearing on us. Kinda reminds me of the 2007 and 2008 playoff teams that looked like Deer in headlights at the plate and they were done before the at bats started.
