  1. A couple of really bad losses in a row. If it were up to me, David Ross would be looking at the door. But some looming questions must be answered in the next 30-ish days that have more immediate significance. What do you do with Marcus Stroman? Cody Bellinger? And if you sell, how deep do you purge the 40-man?
  2. Just for giggles I went and checked Madrigal's splits. June was the first month of his career he posted an OPS at or above .800 (.898) while having more than 30 plate appearances in the month.
  3. So, Julio Teheran. He has no excuse being this good and it feels like every start is the one where his magic pixie dust runs out. Yet it never happened... until his last start when the Mets absolutely lit him up. This is a four-game set in Milwaukee. The Cubs kinda need a split here, though expecting more than that may be asking too much.
  4. Okay, a fix has been deployed. Given that we can't test it from this side of things (because we can't see the error), please confirm whether it's fixed for you.
  5. Okay, that helps. I’ve forwarded this on to the software expert and hopefully he sees wtf is going on here because I’m not seeing it.
  6. Okay, thanks. Are you getting a "Sorry" message or an error with a long series of code and links? I'm seeing two different issues, I think I have one of them resolved but want to be sure.
  7. Are you having issues with viewing some or all forum topics? Do me a favor: try a different browser and see if that works. I'm trying to isolate the problem but cannot replicate it from my end; knowing whether a different browser cures the problem will steer me toward it being a local caching issue on your machine or a potential error in a site instance. If you can, post here with any information.
  8. This might be a rough one. Civale is quite good and Taillon somehow has an ERA that's almost up to seven.
  9. Writing for The Athletic, Jon Heyman has reported that the Cubs are not pursuing an extension of Marcus Stroman before the trade deadline. Hoyer seems to employ a "wait and see" approach and has stated that the Cubs aren't interested in negotiating with a player during the season. Stroman is a wild card and maybe that's leading to there being more rumors swirling around this than usual for a player in Stroman's situation, holding an opt-out clause in his contract after the completion of the 2023 season. Stroman is known for taking matters into his own hands, openly speaking about his contract situation and seemingly wanting to extend with the Cubs, though surely more on his terms than the team's. Ever the self-promoter, this may end up working in the right-hander's favor as contract time comes, as he has shown an ability to keep himself center stage and rally fans behind him, particularly given his stellar performance in 2023.

  11. Ah... you see... *smirks in a very face-punchy way* What we're doing here is for security purposes. And "security" costs money so I'm going to need each of you to pay me $8/mo or you can only read seven threads a day.
  12. Okay, found the plugin that was causing issues with specific threads, disabled it for now until we can apply a real fix.
  13. Working on that right now, a software update borked a small number of threads and I'm not seeing how they're connected yet.
  14. Welcome to North Side Baseball! Goldschmidt is perhaps the most intriguing name on the board. He has some control but it's not so onerous that it's particularly concerning if things go awry. But how comfortable are teams trading in the division like this? Personally, I don't think it's a big deal but clubs often feel differently.
  15. Another national game. As a person who rather dislikes the Guardians, I'm okay with the Cubs beating the living hell out of them again.
  16. Well, let's just forget that Phillies series happened and move on to the Guardians.
  17. A couple of pretty bad games. need to salvage a win today.
  18. Not a good game last night, let's try this again.
  19. Anyone know who the Cubs plan to run out on the mound today?
  20. Well, this is basically a best-case scenario. Occasionally, finger blisters have a tendency to hang around longer than you expect but when they do heal (and often heal quickly), the player is back to 100% instantly.
