  1. No worries, just take the next slot after a loss.
  2. After another quick start, the Pirates are fading fast, going 3-7 over their last ten. A chance for the Cubs to make hay in the division.
  3. Some of the players on the list are probably gone. If someone needs to be removed, just tag me with the name and I'll get rid of it. 1. You must have an account and be logged in to vote. If you don't have an account, click here. It literally requires 60 seconds to create an account. 2. Review our current top 20 prospect list, catch up on stats, rankings, etc. (you can do so from the voting page link below) 3. Have your prospect list in your dirty little paws? Then flip on over to the new prospect voting page (after reading the rest of this, please). https://northsidebaseball.com/prospect-voting 4. Voting is super simple, you drag and drop players in the order you wish them to be. After you move a prospect, the list automatically renumbers so you don't lose track of the order. This works on mobile devices but it's a *vastly* better experience on desktop. Sorry, that's just how this kind of thing works. There's no great way to make something like this be as awesome on a phone screen. 5. Each prospect has a comment section where you can add any commentary you have on that player. At the bottom of the list, there is a general comment section to explain over-arching things you wish to mention. 6. Don't see a prospect you want to put on the list? Just pop back here and give me a mention (in a comment, start typing @Brock Beauchamp or @Seth Stohs and then select the correct name when it appears). Mention the prospect you want added and I will do that asap. 7. Once you're done with all of it, click Save. You've now voted! 8. When the voting closes, a new thread will automatically generate in this forum with all of your rankings and comments for everyone to read and talk about. 9. You can only vote once. If you have voted in error, pop back here and again tag me, asking to have your vote deleted. I will remove it and you can vote again. Voting will close at end of day Wednesday, May 15!
  4. Okay, @Rex Buckingham is up for today's game thread.
  5. I have no opinion on this. What are peoples' thoughts?
  6. First, we're moving all non-MiLB article threads to the front page news forum. No longer will they appear in this forum. As a result, we're asking for some relatively small changes to populate the baseball forums with more threads now that article threads will no longer be here. 1. No more megathreads that are meant to last more than 3-4 days. Draft day, winter meetings, etc. megathreads are fine. No more offseason megathreads or threads that are meant to last weeks or months. If a megathread is started, a mod will either change the title to something more specific or lock it, their call. None of this applies to the political forum; you monkeys can continue to swing from the chandelier as much as you want over there. 2. If someone necros a thread from more than a couple of weeks ago, it will be split off into a new thread. After a few weeks, the old thread usually has wildly outdated information on the first page (or pages) of posts. If that much time has lapsed and the thread is still worth posting in, the information has changed enough to warrant its own thread so please just start a new thread. Mods will split off necroed threads into a new thread and lock the old one. 3. Please deliberately title your threads. Something like "Ben Brown" should more accurately reflect the subject matter ("Ben Brown's fastball is amazing" or whatever). This allows users to better know what to expect when they click into a topic. Our goals here are to create more threads, with fewer posts per thread, and have those posts be more accurately titled so that when a person clicks in, they know what to expect to read. This makes the forum more manageable for more users, particularly new users. Even long term but infrequent users will find the forums easier to navigate if we consistently do these things. Thanks!
  7. We're looking for a couple of people to help us out with the rumors section. I didn't expect to request this for a few more weeks but given the Marlins' recent behavior, I should probably get moving on this. This would be for the Cubs, Brewers, and Twins sites. It's a paid role based on number of posts. Basically, all we need is for people to keep an eye on Twitter and places like MLBTR and scour for rumors about baseball. Here is an example. When you spot a rumor, it's 5-10 minutes of writing and you're on your way.
  8. Anyone else? I haven't seen any slowness at all.
  9. Oh by the way @PackLandVA, you have tomorrow’s game thread.
  10. He didn't even look like he was going hard. Dude has prime Byron Buxton-level wheels.
  11. For the record, this is how I feel about transactions as well. If it's a substantial Cubs move - like a 40-man move - it should have its own thread. If it's a rando minor league signing for AA depth, it can be buried in a larger thread.
  12. Yeah, definitely more excitement going into this season and last year's game threads were a mess early on. I wasn't used to the format, the format was flawed, and it took awhile to get it all sorted.
  13. I want to see a vote on this just to figure out where people stand on it. If the vote is lopsided toward putting them in their own forum, I'll do that, but it will mean we're going to start pruning megathreads a little more vigorously.
  14. I'm fired up for this series, most excited I've been about baseball in 2024. I'll refrain from saying exactly whom I'm rooting for. 😀
  15. Anybody else game for signing up? It's going pretty smoothly so far but it'd be nice to have a few more names on the list.
  16. Napping on the job last night. @PackLandVA is up for today's game thread.
