  1. This has been a thorn in my side for a decade. Ultimately, I keep landing at the status quo because some of the technical solutions get UGLY and dangerous. It's a problem I've been trying to find a lightning in a bottle solution for for years and I just can't.
  2. I'm not really targeting this conversation about anything specific, I just want to get a read on what people think about the state of the forums and where they would like to see improvement. This could be technical in nature but mostly, I'm curious what people think of the tone, the conversations, and the general demeanor of the community. If you have gripes or compliments or whatever, share them here. I haven't been very active lately (on any of the sites, frankly) and like to check in periodically to gauge how things are going. As always, if you are not comfortable sharing something publicly, I'm always available via PM.
  3. @Rex Buckingham you’re up for Monday’s game thread!
  4. What the hell happened here? I’m out and about this weekend and… 17-0? Yikes. @Bertz you are up for tomorrow’s game thread.
  5. I've come to openly resent the NFL and its perpetual news cycle is part of the reason why.
  6. FOCO is a partner with North Side Baseball and support of their products helps support this site; 100% of the funds/materials received from these promotions go directly to our users in the form of prizes and gifts. An all time Chicago Cubs great is now a part of FOCO’s illustrious Chicago Cubs bobblehead collection. Most will look at this man as one of or the greatest defensive second baseman of his time in the majors as he recorded history securing nine total gold glove awards as well another astonishing accomplishment as this man holds the most consecutive errorless games and most home runs by any second baseman in MLB history. A 10-time all-star and former National League MVP and of course, a hall of famer and beloved Cub for life, Ryne Sandberg, is ready to make his way to your bobblehead collection with a little twist on it. This morning, our friends at FOCO have just released a Ryne Sandberg Chicago Cubs Magnetic Stadium Base Bobblehead. FOCO wants to make sure us Cubs fans are paying tribute to a true legend of the game while also paying respects to maybe the most well-know ball park in MLB history, Wrigley Field. The concept of this bobblehead is really cool as the base is a detachable magnet that displays Wrigley Field on the inside of the detachable magnet. Sandberg is repping his home white home Cubs uniform standing in an action pose on top of the detachable magnetic base as he salutes with his hat to the Wrigley faithful. As most of FOCO’s bobbleheads are, this is a limited-edition piece with only 124 units being made standing proudly at 7 inches tall set a retail price of $80. Like all FOCO bobbleheads, each one is hand crafted and painted so that no two bobbleheads look exactly alike creating a unique and diverse presence to every collectible FOCO creates. Make sure to click on any one of the links in this article to grab a Ryne Sandberg Chicago Cubs Magnetic Stadium Base Bobblehead for your own or for a friend before they are all gone and cheer on your Cubs in style!
  7. I would really like to know why there isn't a game thread up yet.
  8. I'm napping on the job this morning. @PackLandVA, you are up for today's game thread.
  9. I finally added this to the site. Internally, we track reliever usage over the past five days so we have reference for who pitched and when. I decided it should be on the site as well. You'll find a link for this at the top of the forum index in the resources list of links. https://northsidebaseball.com/chicago-cubs-bullpen-usage/
  10. Okay, due to the doubleheader split we’re counting the loss. Tomorrow’s game thread is @Southpaw19
  11. It’s all good, I’m not superstitious. And honestly, I don’t even really care. I’m happy to watch all of you see a fun team. As I get older and do this for a living, I find myself less interested in cheering for specific teams. I openly mock the Twins on pretty much a daily basis. I hope they do well but it doesn’t impact me much if they suck.* *I still legitimately get amped and become a crazed fan in October
  12. I should go back and check but my record starting game threads this season is absurd.
  13. Their only strength was pitching and their staff is devastated. And on top of that I think they’re also unlucky.
  14. The Marlins lineup has been terrible, something like a 65 wRC+... and that's before they started losing guys. Miami basically lucked its way into October last year. They had a negative run differential.
  15. Let's try this again! The Marlins have a disaster start on their hands. Nothing has gone right for this team and the immediate future is pretty bleak. It's the return of Jameson Taillon! God only knows what to expect from him.
  16. The Diamondbacks seem determined to make the Cubs win this game.
