    I'll believe it when I see it. They have been saying all year they would bring Benson in the gameplan more, and it hasn't happened. I would love to see Cedric in there. His ability to make the defender miss the tackle or blow him up are impressing me the most this year. The Vikes "D" is pretty good against the run this year and terrible against the pass, right?

    I'm still holding out hope that we sign Drew and trade Jones, and/or sign Lugo for SS. If we can add one or two of the decent SPs that are available (Padilla, Westbrook), we have a real contender next year. I agree, the lineup still needs a big bat in the 6th spot, Im not holding out any hope for Jones. Im not sold on Westbrook just yet, but depending on what we can get for him I would be ok with that with him in the #4 or #5 spot. The porblem is we need a #2 or #3 type starter and IMO Padilla and Westbrook are not it.

    Packers and Vikings lose (I think they both have very losable games) and Bears win, magic number is 1 :D Holy Crap! Holy Crap is right! We could have this division easily wrapped up by The Vikes game on 12/3. Amazing. Anyone find any game day Bears vs. Jets pictures BTW? I can't find any.

    i will give you scientific analysis: the cubs have never outbid anyone for a major free agent. once, macphail was super-excited because the cubs simply were among the finalists for mike hampton. Why did you make me remember that fiasco! Thats one move I'm glad they didnt make though...

    Webb should have won. Zambrano should have finished 2nd. oswalt had more IP, a lower ERA, a better k/bb, a better DERA, a much higher vorp (72-54), a better whip, allowed fewer home runs, and even had a better g/f ratio than zambrano. carpenter had more IP, a lower ERA, a better k/bb, a better DERA, a significantly higher vorp (68-54), a better whip, and even had a better g/f ratio than zambrano. carlos did allow one fewer home run though. arroyo and maybe even smoltz were better than carlos this season too, but it's closer there, especially with smoltz. Do you think the people that vote for this award know half the stats you just stated? Thats just sad right? They still look for that ERA and W/L... IMO: Oswalt Webb Carp Z

    I wish I was a role player! I wonder if Goldeneye counts. I mean, I sorta played a role player when I was Xenia in all those multi player levels and kicked all levels of butt. Sigh...I thought the days of Neifi contracts were over. I wonder if the Tigers may need Derosa come July next year?

    If I was a betting man, I would say that DeRosa has been signed as our 2B instead of Jones' platoon partner. Exactly why people are in an uproar about this. This guy is not a starting position player, he's a suber sub at best and thats putting a nice spin on it. He should not get the playing time that Theriot should get. Unless Piniella comes out and publicly states that hes a platoon player for the team (he won't specifically name Jones) and a rare starter, then I cannot fathom why this guy is on this team let alone being paid what he will be.

    To be honest, I don't see how signing a bunch of guys to cheap deals to fill out your minor league rosters is worse than paying a guy, who has been for the most part mediocre and is coming off of a career year at age 31, 13 million dollars. I meant the ordonez signing in the article...you want him back? I'll take a team of Derosa's starting over him...Yuck... But I agree with you 100% on this issue.

    Do the Cubs have that high hopes on EPatt that they would bring him in to camp for an actual competition for the starting 2nd base job? Seems to me they would bring him in just to throw him out there and get some "seasoning."
