  1. all i'm saying is that i'm not ready to concede that milwaukee is better because they've gotten off to a better start than the cubs.
  2. the last time i saw maxiell, he was getting abused badly by roger powell.
  3. too bad memphis wanted deng and gordon At this point I kinda blame Paxson.....he keeps drafting small players, guards/forwards. They need a legit center, what woulda happened if we kept Curry? hmm. we weren't keeping curry, paxson didn't want to trade him but absolutely had to. i don't blame either side. wow, there's no way that prince is that good.
  4. bpth teams are getting open looks, the bulls just aren't hitting. if they were hitting the open shots like the pistons are, this game would be close.
  5. well, here is the hole that they can't crawl back out of. pistons in 4. and it's not the pistons, the bulls won't hit open shots.
  6. because they aren't? really? because the standings say otherwise. unfortunately, the division winner is determined by the standings and not a position by position >/= contest. the brewers are going to have to completely collapse or suffer some serious injuries for them not to be in contention all season. are you implying that baseball standings after a month and some change is an accurate rating system? that's not like you, dog. everyone wants to look at RS/RA, which is fine...the cubs should have a better record. but they don't, and those losses are in the past. it may show that the cubs can play up the level of the brewers the rest of the season, but the losses that happened (whether they mathematically should have or not) can't be changed. even if the cubs improve and brewers get worse starting from this date, the cubs are still in a five game hole. a 5 game hole can be erased in 5 months.
  7. I like visiting other teams boards and having intelligent discussions based on observation and statistical analysis. I have never been a troll and like to just talk baseball. If I feel that I can add something to a discussion, I might chime in, but not usually on another team's board. However, it is comments like these that I have a hard time with. The Brewers have been clearly a better team than the Cubs this year. The Cubs have won some games against weak opponents just like the Brewers have done lately and have climbed over .500 playing some good baseball. However, the Brewers have been and are the better team as of 5/6/07. Now could that change. Of course. I would hope the Cubs would be more competitive than they were to begin the season based on talent and payroll alone, but you have to give credit where credit is do. The Brewers are the better team right now. Now I will return to the woodwork. the season is not 30 games and i'm not ready to proclaim the brewers as the kings of baseball because they've been successful thus far. they have a better record, and they have marginally better peripherals, but that's assuming the cubs won't hit for power this season, which they probably will.

  9. because they aren't?
  10. that's interesting. i wouldn't dismiss it totally, it has merit.
  11. Just like he isn't hitting 410 this year, he isn't going to hit HRs at his current pace. What proves this? I mean, we know he won't hit .400 because his babip is unsustainable, but what is there that says that his power will come around? i will give him credit for having an insanely high LD%.
  12. Joined date > you so, you signed up with the intention of waiting for the brewers to get good so you could come here and crow? okay. Nah, I thought I would liven up the discussion with that gem of player analysis...if you know what I mean. fair enough, though i overestimated estrada, i thought he'd had some better seasons over the past 3 years--and miller is marginally inferior to blanco.
  13. Joined date > you so, you signed up with the intention of waiting for the brewers to get good so you could come here and crow? okay.
  14. fielder's turning into a decent hitter, but lee is one of the best hitters in the game.
  15. come to think of it, you're right. and it's not close. estrada has had one +.800 OPS season like 3 years ago, barrett has done it, and comfortably, each of the last 3 seasons.
  16. Barrett = Estrada Miller >>> Blanco come on, cub fans are being pretty even handed right now, no need to be totally blinded by bias. where did all these brewer fans come from? the miller being better than blanco thing is jilarious, though. offensively, they're very even, and miller is fine defensively, but blanco is much better. blanco throws out 43% of attempted base stealers and handles the pitching staff like no other backup catcher in the geame.
  17. no. it's better for all if he sticks to left. you'd also create another problem on the infield with derosa having no place to play.
  18. lou always looks out of breath to me. hopefully, he's taking care of himself. although i do hear that a lot of managers won't address the press after the game until they've knocked a few back.
  19. keep telling yourself that. i don't think they are. they're good, no doubt, but i think the cubs stack up favorably position-for-position. it's close. 1B: ad cubs 2B: ad brewers 3B: ad cubs SS: ad brewers C: ad push CF: ad brewers RF: ad cubs LF: ad cubs overall, i think the cubs lineup wins because the areas in which they excell, the excell greatly. the cubs have 3 top hitters in their lineup. i'd take lee, ramirez, and soriano over fielder, hardy, and hall, quite easily. as for pitching: sheets vs. zambrano: ad zambrano capuano vs. hill: ad hill (close) suppan vs. lilly: push bush vs. marquis: marquis (close) vargas vs. guzman????: ad vargas bullpen: brewers (close) i don't think it really matters how you configure the rotation comparison, the cubs are better, imo.
  20. God bless you. yes, that will never get old.
  21. i don't think that leak is about to supplant orton, but i could be wrong. if he did, you can bet that all of the meatballs would be up in arms.
  22. and kenji johnjima looks to be a pretty decent offensive catcher in the AL.
  23. lol cherry pie http://media.scout.com/Media/Image/32/328407m.jpghttp://allthingsvalleyleague.typepad.com/photos/uncategorized/rocky_cherry_head.jpg CHERRY PIE ooooooooooooooh! i get it now. i get jokes.
  24. except for the clutch gods yes.
  25. The thing about a 4.50, at this point, is that he'd probably have to pitch to nearly a 5.00 ERA the rest of the way to get up that high, assuming he throws 200 innings this year. That means he'd pretty much suck from here on out. I don't think I would have been "happy" with a 4.50 ERA, going into the season. Although if you offered me that I may have taken it. I think I would have been happy with a 4.10-4.20 ERA though. And to get to that he'd have to spend the rest of the year around 4.70. point well taken.
