  1. we're gonna need a bigger boat. by which i mean another good pitcher or two.
  2. Did you also mimic the Iron Sheik''s "AMERICA, HAWPT-TOO!" line, as well? yes, yes i did. iran #1, russia #1. those are such awesome satirical characters, even though no one really appreciated them at the time.
  3. If it offends you that much, there's always the channel up/down and mute buttons. :D oh, i changed the channel, make no mistake. for one, i think it's embarassing to watch a grown man sing either of those songs. also, i think it's ridiculous to watch the star-spangled banner on tv. do you stand and put your hand over your heart? i used to stand for nikolai volkov until my parents made me stop. but that soviet national anthem, now THERE is a song that gives you goosebumps. What if Volkov sung the National Anthem? Would that be better, or just sacrilege to you? i would give mad props to volkov if he could sing those songs, but i don't think he's alive enough to sing them.

  5. Yeah, I'm not sure who he is but he definitely did one of the best versions of both songs I've ever heard. i thought he messed up some words, and mispronounced another. it's "perilous" right?
  6. it's america overkill. why should we have to sit through 2 terrible songs before watching something we actually like?
  7. i always thought "healthy body, sick mind" by op ivy would work for him.
  8. if kendall had any stones he would have swung at that pitch. he just knows wood's stuff is too nasty for him to hit, so he put the bat on his shoulder and prayed for a walk---he had no intention of swinging, which was smart, it just backfired.
  9. i've always understood fair to be between average and poor.
  10. don't tell that to crazy illini fans, they'll think you're a ku alum. i said this exact same thing on the scout board, along with my reasoning (ie: ku being a top 5 program nationally, and one could argue, the most prestigious job in college basketball seeing as how the guy who invented the game used to occupy the position), and some guy said i was a delusional ku alum, i swear. so, i guess that 1. stating that self is not going to abandon ku, and 2. stating that ku is a top collegiate program makes me not only delusional, but a ku alum. this is why people hate UI fans on the internet, most of them are too young to drive or are too old to go to the bathroom by themselves. i wish we could just stop the hate. self is not going to leave kansas, kansas is not illinois and osu is not kansas, get over it.
  11. not really. can't i hate neifi perez without asking for attention?
  12. Aren't the bars in the area also profiting from someone else's product? not unless those bars are showing the games on television and not paying business rates for cable/dish.
  13. rashied davis, pointless.
  14. not at all. dusty can't be faulted for going with his stud in a situation like that. the real crime was his abuse of prior in his previous game, as i pointed out. what was dusty going to do, bring in farnsworth so he could be bad?
  15. I'm almost certain he didn't. i'm ALMOST CERTAIN he did. I'm almost certain he didn't. almost certain did.
  16. george plimpton is dead. and he was also gay for matt damon.
  17. jerel mcneal, ousmane barro, joe chapman, maurice acker, dameon mason. and marcus jackson from peoria. he was also a finalist, with illinois, for shaun pruitt. he seems to recruit fairly well, though he's not really a player for chicago 5 stars, though, admittedly, the illini haven't been either.
  18. I'm almost certain he didn't. i'm ALMOST CERTAIN he did.
  19. baseball is a different sport, plus the athletes do it for a living and are grown men. if they can't calm themselves down within the slow pace of a baseball game, then they shouldn't be in the big leagues. but i understand your point.
  20. Thought for sure I'd get to this one first. I guess IU decided Pearl, Pitino, and Calipari weren't true Indiana men. yeah, i'm surprised they'll pay so much for crean, and they will, and they wouldn't give a sniff to any of the real expensive guys. i wonder what his buyout is? it's got to be a fortune, i mean, i think crean actually owns a controlling interest in marquette.
  21. Nope. That to me might be the most egregious sin of that night. He just sat on his fat butt with that stupid toothpick in his mouth while the ship was sinking. i have absolutely no problem with dusty remaining calm. what would people have him do? stomp around and rant and rave? have a hippie freak out? go out and yell at the ump and ruin any kind of serenity that the players had to begin with? the manager was virtually powerless in that situation. he pulls prior then he gets second guessed when farnsworth comes in and is ineffective, which he was. the players blew it. the fielding percentage leader at ss muffed an easy double play and the whole world came down, period. the problem i have with dusty is leaving prior in so long during his previous start. the end of that game was all gonzalez. How about, after the Bartman incident, Dusty just come out of the dugout and calm everyone down. Maybe a deep breath would have helped. i just don't think that's the reason we lost, at all. and i can blame dusty for many many things, but that isn't one.

You are completely missing what I was getting at. I would have liked for him to have gone out to the mound after the botched DP and talk to Prior. I can't imagine anyone would have wanted him to "stomp around". That would have accomplished nothing. A visit to the mound MIGHT have had some positive effect during a team meltdown. i'll never watch the game again but i'm almost certain that he made a mound visit before pulling prior. by which i mean that his second visit consisted of pulling him.
