  1. of course you do. but seriously, i think mizzou wins in a close one again.
  2. yeah, we all know stubby clapp, he played for the cardinals and is one of the long list of cardinal players with strange names. his real name is not stubby, it's richard.
  3. paul makes a good pass and it's all: omg, "paul is the greatest pg of all time!" deron williams makes a play that's ten times more difficult and it's all "nice pass by williams, there."
  4. us blows back to back layups, we can probably win without ever making layups, but we need them to make those gimmes.
  5. bosh is simply everywhere on the boards.
  6. they have the individual apparatus events.
  7. i just watched some of tyson gay's races, yeah, i'd say that he would have had a chance to beat bolt if he'd remained healthy--but not better than 50/50. tyson gay ran a 9.68, which is the fastest a man has ever run before, that just obliterates everything, a full 10th of a second faster than ben johnson's juice-induced 88.
  8. 2 more missed layups with seconds to play, and the finally score on the last tip-in. i've never seen professionals miss so many layups.
  9. if there's any doubt, boozer, you twit, save the ball from going out of bounds. i guess he didn't feel like trying. and spain pull swith in 14 again. great. stop fouling them you lazy asses.
  10. finish the damn play, paul. that's 10 missed layups for you, bunghole.
  11. ref standing right in front of play, but still calls it spain's ball out of bounds. k is letting him have it. i hope we don't have to overcome every single referee to win gold, not that we can't.
  12. and another foul on the americans after the free throw, unreal. americans already getting hosed, they'll win, but they should anihiliate the spanish.
  13. how can a team like spain be within 14 at this point? they have one player, seriously. wow, and they just keep calling fouls on the americans.
  14. tyson gay fails to qualify for the finals. it's a shame that he wasn't 100%, we might have seen a bit more of a race.
  15. Ben Johnson could, he cheated but he was still damn fast. The 100 might still be my favorite event. bolt's 9.72 wr is faster than ben's drug-assisted 9.79. bolt doesn't even look like he's going fast, his strides are so long. it's going to take a miracle for gay to beat him. hopefully, tyson is malingering.
  16. usain bolt looks like he could beat tyson gay in his sleep. i've never seen anyone run like that, no chance for america in this one, unfortunately.
  17. us women finally get their act together and stun the defending olympic champions at volleyball.
  18. the US women's volleyball coach is the most famous athlete in chinese history? and we're upset that some basketball player who didn't receieve an invitation is playing for someone who wants her.
  19. after watching the 2000 4x100 and then the 2008 race, it's quite eerie that almost the exact same thing happened. the anchor of the team made a comment about smashing the eventual winners (although hall was funnier and more flambuoyant), and then coughed up the race in the final 25 meters. the only difference was that the americans weren't jerks about it, really. but i never understood the australians playing of the air guitars afterwards. they clearly misinterpreted hall's comments as being about guitars, rather than wrestling, which i assume was their proper context.
  20. i doubt it. he's not a great sprinter; he pretty much always has to come from behind in the 100 fly (which scares me, he's going to have to go 50.5 or under to win tomorrow morning, i think). he's a great mid-distance swimmer and i think he could be great at distance if he worked on it, but the long, lean body generally does not lend itself as well to sprinting. those are usually the shorter, more muscular swimmers. plus, phelps works too hard to be a sprinter. but i thought that the greatest sprinters of all time were rather tall.
  21. i think it would be killer if edmonds won the mvp as a platoon player.
  22. Karoli (sp?) it's pronounced, "lugosi".
  23. mary lou retton won the gold*, too.
  24. i can remember watching her dad 20 years ago.
