  1. ooh, i didn't even think about gross. that would be perfect if williams is healthy enough to start at LT next season and can hold it down reasonably well. keep tait and move him to guard.
  2. and there's the ballgame. but i'm still confident we're the better team, although they're far more athletic.
  3. we will destroy this team in champaign.
  4. they call the foul on chester, however, tisdale is raped an no call. we're starting to get into homer territory,
  5. michigan will go nowhere as long as they rely so heavily upon the 3-pointer. they just don't take any other kind of shot. when they're hot, they win. when they aren't they give less talented teams a chance to win.
  6. And if Chester's dunk is any precedent they wouldn't have called the foul if he made it anyway. i still enjoyed watching the big dumb white guy fall on the back of his head.
  7. these 2 teams take so many 3s.
  8. mccamey's gotta give a hard foul right there on harris. you can't give him an easy bucket like that. don't try to hurt him, just knock him down.
  9. Then why did you talk about Illinois last year? Or Illinois football this year? because when illinois basketball is down, everyone notices. when iowa basketball is down and a pointless waste of time, the sky is blue. Over the last 3 years Iowa is one game better than Illinois in the Big Ten. We had a coaching move in the middle of that 3 years, Bruce has no such excuse. Except maybe that it can be a distraction to have players leave another teammate to die. What about the irrelevant Illinois football team this year? Why were they discussed? why just the past 3 years? but i guess a tourney appearance for the hawkeyes is considered a successful season, and that's just fine for a largley irrelevant program. you guys are doin great! you can go to the football thread to discuss illinois football if you'd like. i thought this was the basketball thread. but if you're asking me, illinois football was just about irrelevant enough to beat the hawkeyes. I was obviously cherry-picking the numbers to help state my case. But the fact remains that Illinois hasn't been relevant since Deron Williams left. No more relevant than Iowa. You don't want anyone to discuss irrelevant teams. Yet you continually discussed (well actually you just whined about officiating and how only you are doomed to root for teams with terrible luck) Illinois football. They were completely irrelevant this year and haven't been any more relevant historically than Iowa basketball. And if you want to go the head-to-head route, I wasn't bragging when Iowa beat Illinois in '07. We stunk, they went to the Rose Bowl. It didn't really mean much. they went 11-5 in the big ten the year after williams left and have made the tourney twice since his departure (i realize iowa also did this that year, but while it was a great year for iowa, it was a forgetable year for the illini). you see what i mean, if iowa would have made the tourney 2 years in a row it would be absolutely the biggest news in the world. what i mean by iowa being irrelevant (and we're talking basketball here, basketball, because, as you'll notice, this is a basketball thread. i have no idea why you brought up the issue of football, as my comments were not pertaining the irrelevance of iowa football or the relevance of illini football)is that they generally don't make the ncaa, they generally don't challenge for big ten titles, they've never been considered a top program at any time, and they have no real prospects of doing that in the future. you know, irrelevant as far as illini football, let's keep it on the football thread, but we DID beat you this year. seriously, if you want to have a discussion about football, make the first post in that thread, i'll be right there, i swear.
  10. Yeah I see us losing this one big. We haven't had a really bad game yet and I fear that with as young as we are it might be that time. i don't see us losing big, our defense has been playing too well to get blown out. i don't see us winning, though.
  11. but anyway, on to relevant basketball. huge game against a very good michigan team in ann arbor. harris and sims are a pretty badass tandem to go up against and i don't have a good feeling about this one. i think michigan wins by 5. 75-70.
  12. no my bad, i get a lot of those mixed up.
  13. and as far as leaving a teammate for dead, you don't really want to go into the off-court activities of iowa ball players, do you? i mean, wasn't freeman just kicked off the team for being drunk and underage?

  16. and like i said, enough with iowa. they're an irrelevant ,irrelevant team. oh yes, and this:
  17. again with chevy blazers, is that what pierre pierce drove or was it a windowless van?
  18. shut up about iowa.
  19. stop defending iowa.
  20. haha, yep.
  21. DL coach for 10 years in Tampa, so that's right up Lovie's alley they were roommates or something in tampa. BFF's pretty much. add angelo into the mix and you have the three amigos.
  22. DL coach for 10 years in Tampa, so that's right up Lovie's alley they were roommates or something in tampa.
  23. then i like him as a dl coach.
  24. has he ever been a DC before, though?
  25. ku is obviously better coached, though ut is far more athletic. You serious? Because I'm not seeing in this game where that's being shown at all. Tennessee's had terrible hot/cold streaks throughout the game. If they were a bit more consistent hitting their shots then this would be a much closer game. ku shouldn't be beating ut this bad for any reason. tennessee should be able to get to the hoop on a consistent basis against this young kansas team. i should also mention that i hate tennessee and i hate their stupid headbands even more. Why should UT be able to get to the hoop at will? We haven't done it all year, and I cannot imagine that a game in Allen Field House is the time and place to begin. Tennessee lost this game due to an inability to play defense effectively or to shoot worth a flip. Give Kansas credit, they won this game far more than Tennessee lost it, though. Tennessee misses Lofton and JaJuan Smith terribly right now. No one is shooting the ball particularly well outside of about 12 feet besides maybe Cameron Tatum. And Scotty Hopson just has not lived up to the "one-and-done" hype. Defensively, he is a HUGE liability. Some things missing from this Tennessee team: perimeter shooting, secondary ball pressure on the press, and as a result, the ability to make that 12-0 run twice a game, as has been the trademark of this team under Pearl. because of the kind of athletes they have, they have guys that are just explosive, slasher-types and it's odd that they can't get to the rack and haven't been able to all year. strange.
