    i don't generally allow myself to root for teams from california, but in this case i just hate front-butt so badly i'll make an exception.

    it's funny, whenever the bears play a team from a city with no diginity, lawrence holmes interviews some needle-dick beat reporter from said city and they always brag and brag and brag about how good their team is and about how few weaknesses they have. the guy from atlanta went so far as to dispute holmes' contention that matt ryan wasn't quite in peyton manning's league, yet.

    he just seems to be more statuesque, thinner, with less upper-body and arm-strength although moderately more accurate. i don't think he would have made a great pro anyway and detroit would have been looking for a replacement in several years. with stafford, i think they have something. so, i'd imagine the lions are just as happy they didn't have to make a choice.
