  1. welcome to the martz era.
  2. like i said, the bears played well, the defense played well, the offense played well, the coaching wasn't great, but this is a team that could make the playoffs.
  3. doesn't he have this effect on the packers though?
  4. there's no way the pack doesn't win this game though
  5. mccoy is having himself a game too.
  6. vick's still got it.
  7. i love how this call has brought all the complete idiot meatballs out.
  8. Every quarterback is going to miss some throws. He had a very good game with one brain fart. I don't care how well the ball was thrown on the INT, it was a stupid decision to throw into triple coverage. If, in fact, the ball was perfectly thrown as sulley says it makes the decision worse in my mind. If that was a perfectly thrown ball and still got tipped and intercepted (albeit on a nice play by peterman), that means there was basically no margin for error and an ill-advised throw. it was an ill-advised throw, but we have one of the few qbs who can come close to making it.
  9. every qb misses wide open receivers. don't take a couple of throws a game and let them tell the story.
  10. he SPLIT the defenders behind peterson, is was right in the middle, right where knox was.
  11. http://espn.go.com/blog/nfcnorth/post/_/id/16142/like-it-or-not-megatron-call-was-right
  12. cutler had split the remaining 2 defenders after peterson, who jumped 5 feet in the air to swipe it. it was placed very well, it's just that another player made an extraordinary play on it.
  13. he absolutely did not underthrow the ball, it was right on target, but peterson made a good play on it. he split 3 defenders and it would have hit knox in the numbers. if you want to start taking away big plays, you can do that with anybody because anybody's stats are padded by big plays. if you want to take away the big play, you have to take away the int as well and then analyze from there.
  14. you don't know the rules. He didn't flip the ball up. It sucks but that is the rule. Better explanation than I could give: except that his natural motion led the ball to the ground. he did not stop, lay there for a second, and then put his hand down. his hand came down as a product of his momentum.
  15. i'm glad i started mcnabb over kolb this week.
  16. why do you hate cutler so much? peterson makes a great play on that pass to knox or it's right in knox's lap. just enjoy a great game from cutler and accept that he is our qb.
  17. yeah, they were weak except that they didn't give up many yards.
  18. who had coverage on johnson on the play in question, because he was covered well and johnson just made a great play.
  19. the good thing that came out of this is that the bears have a win and the vikings don't.
  20. no doubt lovie should be fired, but paring down his responsibilities would be better in terms of monetary commitment.
  21. conversely, if cutler plays like he did today going forward, we'll win a lot of games.
  22. detroit is going to give the NFL fits this year, they are a pretty gritty bunch. but i was saying that last year at the beginning of the year when larry foote looked like an all-pro.
  23. because you don't have possession until you hold onto the ball once you hit the ground. and the ground CAN cause a fumble, not that it has anything to do with the call here.
  24. If Lovie doesn't make the incorrect decision literally every time there was a crucial turning point in the game, we probably win by 10 and its not a big deal at the end of the game The Lions weren't doing ANYTHING on offense until we went into prevent mode. We kept moving it between the 30s, but we just kept stalling or turning it over. I feel ok about the offense if we decide to stop running the ball and just let Cutler chuck it up. The defense, against a really bad team, also looked pretty good for most of the game. This has an 7-9 to 8-8 season written on it with an easier schedule...as it is this might be a 6-10ish team i thought they looked good for the most part, the lions defense played with some fire and attitude, but cutler still threw for 372 yards and 2 tds. that is what we will need if we're going to be successful. we had some bad fumbles but that's not a product of the scheme. i think the way we played today, if we hold onto the ball better, we beat a lot of teams.
  25. No. That was pathetic. I know. Just trying to be optimistic. no, it's a win.
