  1. but you weren't paying attention obviously when i talked about balance, then. I'm not the only one. It seems that we are pretty much saying the same thing. yeah, but you are implying that it's more about martz simplifying the playbook for jay rather than balance. the balance issue is completely separate from "scaling jay back". the pass has kick-started the run and the more they run, the less they pass. however, the pass plays that jay is running aren't any "safer" than the ones he was running at the beginning of the year. they've made adjustments, but they aren't reining jay in in the slightest.
  2. that was the funniest thing i've seen in the nfl so far this year. including braylon's dougie.

  4. wait, are you saying you need a "big arm" to throw the ball deep? what on earth? i don't know what to say to this. jay has certainly been using a superior arm to do the things he's been doing. it takes a strong arm to make the intermediate throws the way he's making them. i'm not sure you realize arm strength isn't all chucking it deep. like i said, when you're hitting your receivers in stride on slants, rather than making them wait and get killed, that tends to happen. did you read my post at all? these aren't arguments you're making here, i'm not sure what they are.
  5. everything you say is idiotic. You don't know a damn thing about football. What do you disagree with in my post exactly? Everything in that post is a fact that you really can't argue with. I've said 500 million stupid things on this board. At least find a good one to complain with. well, for one, jay's ypa are up over the past couple of games, meaning he's been slinging it and not settling for checkdon throws over and over. he's been hitting the slant quite a bit and hitting his receivers in stride, and has been making plays down the field when protection breaks down. the touchdown pass to knox last week was off his back foot, his first touchdown pass to bennett last week split 3 defenders, his second to bennett was a thing of beauty, a perfect throw that only bennett could catch, a throw that if only a hair off could have resulted in a pick 6. his other td pass, to olsen, was a 50-50 ball that could have been picked off, had not cutler trusted olsen to go up and get it. these are not safe throws, they are big plays, needle-threading throws that big arms make. the idea that he's toned it down a bit is also a myth. when he's throwing it, he's throwing it, it's just that we've had to inject a measure of rushing into our attack, which has made us more balanced and more dangerous. he has not stopped making tough throws at all.
  6. he wouldn't have done that if it was forte or taylor. he wanted to get a bonus lick on the quarterback because suh's a puke. you saw how delmas launched himself helmet-down, arms-tucked at cutler earlier in the game. he wouldn't have done that if it was a running back or a tight end. the lions were thugging it up today because they had nothing to lose.
  7. what does the tampa loss mean for the bears? i guess it means they're almost out of the playoff hunt and our main competitors are the giants and new orleans for the wc. so root against NYG, NO, and GB the rest of the way.
  8. tampa bay had that game won, atlanta is living on the edge
  9. freeman's for real edit: nice int though
  10. that little chargers fan in the bears jersey who hates the raiders is really gonna hate them now.
  11. I had heard of it once before but had no idea what it was the best dougie was the one braylon edwards did, you need to watch it with commentary, though. "he's just doin the dougie!" the highlight of the video is when the offensive lineman runs up to the ref and starts mimicking what edwards was doing so the ref would know that he's just doing the dougie.
  12. what on earth do you mean here? defense and jay not turning the ball over? have you been watching the games? jay has been making plays, not "managing" games. that's why we're winning, we aren't exactly going anywhere without cutler making plays and continuing to make plays. if jay turns into trent dilfer, we are in trouble. For like the fiftieth time, you are a smart guy but get intentionally stupid when reading my posts. Jay has been throwing the ball around pretty much all season. I never said he was managing the game. But he was throwing the ball all around and turning it over. His yardage is slightly scaled back now, but he just isn't turning the ball over like he was early on. ok, i read that as we just need jay to be 2005 kyle orton.

  14. Well of course I don't want him to step up if he is going to get clobbered. Did you really think I meant that? I think jay throws off his back foot a lot more that when it is imperative. well, that's conjecture.
  15. boller in, can't wait to see his limp-wristed throwing technique.
  16. the best qbs can throw it any way they want to throw it.
  17. because sometimes taking a step forward means getting clobbered. why is that so hard to understand? he rarely throws off his back foot unless it is imperative.
  18. Yes Jay can make great throws off his back foot, but why do it? No QB has to do it and you will be a better QB for not doing it. No pitcher has to throw across his body. It doesn't help you make a pitch. I think it is the same with throwing off your back foot. It just takes too much off the ball. you seriously think that quarterbacks never benefit from being able to throw off their back foot? yeah, i want a guy who has to wind up and shawon dunston it to get a throw off.
  19. throwing of his back foot didn't ruin rex, it was the fact that he had no composure in the pocket and no awareness instincts. oh, and he couldn't move at all, if you're small, you better be able to run.
  20. they should just win the rest of their games and we won't have to worry about anything
  21. If by few you mean 10. :D mark sanchez being one?
  22. but i reiterate, there are few quarterbacks in the nfl that could run this offense with this line and maintain this kind of success.
  23. What if there was no bogus possession rule for catching a TD? there are more what ifs that would come down in the bears favor, is what i'm saying. the bears desrved to win, but got lucky, too.
  24. The point remains that the Bears lose in Week 1 if not for that rule technicality. As for today, when you're losing for the first 75% of the 2nd half and then take the lead, to me that counts as scoring at the end of the game. It wasn't the very end, but Detroit played well enough to win. the bears dominated the game and then got lucky at the end. the lions were more lucky to even have a chance to win. any way you slice the "what if" game, the bears come out ahead in week 1.
