  1. The Pats are 4th in the league in yards per passing attempt. And while they are middle of the pack in yards per reception, they have just 2 plays fewer over 20 yards than Green Bay does. True, they don't have a guy that is a bonafide deep threat, but they will send any and every receiver (besides Welker) down the field. Tate, Hernandez, and Branch can beat you deep if they have the matchup in their favor (1-on-1). I definitely wouldn't play a ton of 2-deep. But you can't just not play Cover 2. Can't really play just 1 style against the Patriots at all, because they can do so many different things offensively. i disagree, gotta go with heavy doses of the tampa-2, which is player contingent not scheme contingent. if the players are doing well, it needs very little tweaking. the bears shouldn't outthink themselves. do what you do well and make new england play differently, don't get into a chess match with belichick, you'll lose.
  2. lost in all this success is greg olsen's emergence as a heck of a blocker, both at the line of scrimmage and in the open field. he's doing a great job without catching a ton of passes.
  3. According to what? Most sub-30 QB rating games this year? Most interceptions thrown this year? Cutler has a much higher completion percentage, higher yards/attempt, 1 more TD and a higher QB rating. running joke
  4. Considering the Pats destroyed the Titans 59-0 last year in the midst of a blizzard, I'm going to go with them. Oh and they also won the tuck rule game in heavy snow, but that was awhile ago. When's the last time the Bears played in a snowstorm? It was snowing toward the end of the NFCCG against New Orleans, but that was hardly a storm. since we aren't really a cold weather team, i hope not. i remember the steelers pushing us around like we were on sleds in 2005, though.
  5. they have a few decent players but their scheming is just flawless. they are very rarely unprepared, they adapt to every style of play. they are the anti-bears on defense. i'm not saying that they don't prepare well, they just don't adapt, the tampa-2 is a catchall that requires very little imagination.
  6. there is no less likeable coach in the nfl than rex ryan.
  7. they got not having mark sanchez at qb covered.
  8. i would not want to see suh wrap cutler up around the waste. gross
  9. boozer 29 and 12, now that is nice.
  10. well, maybe they won't be so good against the tampa-2.
  11. colletti is such a turd. he's like a little kid. "i like pudding!"
  12. i can't believe they didn't give him another season to right the ship.
  13. he called him the weak link after the third win in a row.
  14. The quick pass and draw play strategy was kind of crazy yesterday how often they relied on it. isn't the quick pass part all cutler rather than martz? i mean martz might have instructed him to hit the hot read, my understanding of the offense is that the qb doesn't audible but has a ton of options within the framework of the play itself.
  15. did you watch the penn and teller episode on how this focus on self-esteem and "specialness" is creating a generation of narcissists? totally awesome show.
  16. honestly, how can anyone live in a world such as this? I think every player has to live in that world. maybe. but come on, have some shame.
  17. they should trade the pick if luck is so sought after.
  18. honestly, how can anyone live in a world such as this?
  19. they are a lot scarier in foxboro, though.
  20. again, he's either a bad decision-maker or he's tom brady. just cut it out already.
  21. I think it is a little of both. Jay is not a good decision maker when under pressure. that is absurd. You think Jay is a good decision maker? I think that is his biggest weakness. but you also think he is the weak link so i really don't put much stock in that assessment. his decision-making has saved our butts plenty of times this season.
  22. I think it is a little of both. Jay is not a good decision maker when under pressure. that is absurd.
  23. Dude seriously stop being intentionally stupid. I really don't know what you are trying to prove by somehow not seeing how those links are issues I directly brought up a few posts back. I earlier said that the Bears haven't been throwing the deep ball as much. I also said that the Bears passing offense and their yards per attempt looks a little larger than it really is because of the yards after the carry that the receivers have been generating. and as i said, your implication is that the staff is limiting the plays so as to protect jay from turning the ball over, not to employ a more balanced attack. those links do nothing for that argument, which you've muddled like a cherry in an old fashioned.
  24. why did you link those articles?
  25. it's obvious that they can't go deep because jay will get killed on the 7-step drop, not because he's being limited in any way.
