  1. You went to Georgia Tech ? Yep. Didn't graduate, but I went.
  2. Go Jackets. (alma mater)
  3. To be honest, I'm more afraid of Kentucky than I am of Alabama.
  4. I'm afraid of that. :( I don't think the Hogs will have trouble running whatsoever. I think they may have trouble stopping the pass, and passing when needed. If Marcus Monk is good to go, then I'm favoring the Razorbacks. If not, I'm worried until they prove I don't have to be.
  5. I don't think I'd put L-ville/Kentucky down as a mismatch. It may end up that way, but it's no foregone conclusion, especially after Louisville's showing this weekend.
  6. agree. I thought most people here believe in the "reverting back to your career stats" theory. Yeah, completely different point in the development process. Reversion isn't an issue until you peak. Position players usually peak between 26-28.
  7. Some huge games coming up next week. Arkansas-Alabama. USC-Nebraska. Tennessee-Florida. Louisville-Kentucky (first to 60 wins?). Georgia Tech-BC is enormous.
  8. I'm glad they're not afraid to move teams around large amounts. However..Georgia falls to 23 and 25, and VT, who has put up 17 offensive points in two games, only fell to 17 and 18? What?
  9. Of course I'm an LSU guy, but out of curiosity why, in your opinion, was OU's win more impressive? I don't see it as impressive enough to rank them ahead of LSU. OU's 2 victories are over North Texas and a not very good Miami. I think a lot of good defenses would have stopped VTech. Let's face it, it's pretty much a toss up at this point but I thought that Miami looked better in week 1 than VTech did, thus my comment. If LSU stuffs MTS next week defensively that will show me how good their defense is which I agree, is very very good. I do see your point about LSU playing 2 better teams overall than Oklahoma though and that does make me rethink it. It's going to be a very interesting season and how it plays out should be quite fascinating. Fair enough, but the U's first game was against the Marshall Herd. Also, if I were you I wouldn't use LSU's game against MTSU as a measuring stick of how good LSU's D is. That should be an absolute bloodbath. True, but it will still probably be the best offense they will have played.
  10. no kidding. that will probably be the only game TCU loses all season unless they somehow make a BCS game. TCU is a very good team with a very good defense. I'll admit I don't know a whole helluva lot about TCU, and looking at their schedule, they should go undefeated in the Moutain West, but I gave my reasons, and they are pretty solid reasons. TCU had a 10 point lead at half, and was tied 10-10 going into the fourth. Texas didn't take a lead until TCU put the ball on the ground inside their own 15. TCU had a hundred yards in penalties, four turnovers, and three other fumbles they managed to get back on. yet Texas couldn't do much with that until the fourth quarter, instead matching TCU in sloppy play for much of the game. I think I demonstrated a lack of homerism here. as a Big 10 guy, I am fine with saying that PSU's win was less than impressive. why people look at the final score and determine whether a team was impressive or not, I have no idea. Because they were playing a good team. If you hadn't said it was entirely unimpressive and made it sound like they struggled against middle tennessee or something, your comment likely would have garnered less opposition.
  11. Florida was up 49-7 at half against Troy. Teams score in garbage time. It's the opposite of the Arkansas game last week, where they hung around until halftime and then got blown out. Also, how is a 20+ point win over TCU entirely unimpressive?
  12. No idea how that happened. I could've sworn they were in there somewhere, around 14. Oops. Fiver, I didn't realize that Burns was already your #2 over at Auburn. I guess he's been looking pretty good? Is Ziemba on the squad, or did he redshirt?
  13. Florida does look good but I dont think they will be able to beat LSU due to the lack of a good running back. I think tht LSU's defense it to fast to fall for all the trick runs they do with their QB's and WR's. At some point you have to juse be able to put the ball in the hands of a good running back to get you tough yards and i just dont know if they have the ability to do that against a great defense like LSU. You mean, sometimes it's easiest to just put the ball in the hands of a good running back to get tough yards. I think it's pretty hard to say they need it when they won the national championship without it.
  14. For a bad team, Troy's not a bad team, and they have that kind of quarterback that causes missed assignments. It's not surprising to see something like that happen late in a blowout. The Florida offense looks like a much more polished and explosive version of last year's. I put Cal above Texas because they've looked better, and I put Texas ahead of WVA because I have more confidence in Texas's offense coming around than I do of WVA's defense stepping up when necessary. It's better than Louisville's, but that's not saying a lot. I think the 3 teams are pretty close together at this point.
  15. Tentative top 25 listing: 1. LSU 2. Oklahoma 3. USC 4. Florida 5. Cal 6. Texas 7. West Virginia 8. Wisconsin 9. Penn State 10. Georgia Tech 11. Louisville 12. Washington 13. Boston College 14. Oregon 15. UCLA 16. Arkansas 17. Ohio State 18. Nebraska 19. Alabama 20. Tennessee 21. South Carolina 22. Texas A&M 23. South Florida 24. Cincinnatti 25. Georgia I'm sure this looks crazy.
  16. I take back what I said. #1 LSU, #2 OK, #3 USC. But it's very close. In fact, I'm going to submit before I change my mind again.
  17. Auburn disappointing, or is South Florida living up to the media darling status they've been getting all season? I don't know, but I wish I could actually watch the game, sounds like a good one.
  18. and you thought I was joking. Had Boise not lost, the WAC would be looking pretty damm good right now.
  19. Recently, I suppose so. I didn't think much of Georgia last year, but they were impressive in their last several games and salvaged a good season out of what could have been a nightmare. For that reason, and considering they had a lot of young players at key positions that were sure to improve, I was pretty high on Georgia this season. Right now I'm not sure whether I overrated them or should have given South Carolina more credit. Georgia sure does seem prone to disappearing offense, though.
  20. I agree with your second paragraph. However, Wisconsin certainly was good last year. They lost one game, and won a bowl game against Auburn -- the only team to beat National Champion Florida. I'm not arguing they're a top-5 team, but they certainly are a good team. *Also, Wisconsin isn't very good, yet they're one of the top-20 teams in the country? Are you saying there are only like 10 good teams each year? No, they played Arkansas, and should have lost, had Arkansas had a competent kicker.
  21. If LSU stomps Va. Tech, would that change your mind? I agree though, Oklahoma is scary good. That'd make it close, but I'd still probably put OK on top. Washington State/BSU sure was weird. 24-10 at the end of one quarter...24-10 final score. If LSU stomps Va Tech they should be ranked higher than OU. Miami is garbage. At least the Hokies are decent. I'd be doing it more on the strength of Mississippi State. I'm not convinced Va Tech is actually any better than Miami.
  22. Okay, if LSU/VaTech continues like this, I'm going to have to revise my previous statement. This is criminal.
  23. This just in: Northern Colorado is baaaaaaad. NCU is currently losing 31-0. To...Chadron State.
  24. 28-14, SIU in teh battle of directional Illinois.
