  1. Booty or Johnson, I hope we don't even touch Dixon or Brennan with a 10 foot pole. Dixon, Booty, 10 foot pole? read the first 2 names very fast together. Reminds me of when the Dolphins had Cox and Beavers at linebacker.
  2. Peterson ran 4.4 flat at last year's combine. 40 times are useful, but in football terms, raw 40 times aren't as important as a player's ability to reach and maintain that speed, especially while changing directions.
  3. I understand level of comp and all, but I don't see how a guy with his athleticism and his absolutely cartoonish numbers could go under the radar. How come nobody's ever heard of the highest rated passer in NCAA history prior to the draft? I had to double check Johnson's the numbers on another site to make sure it wasn't a typo.
  4. There's no way Augustin would fall anywhere near 24, in my estimation.
  5. I finally got around to looking at Josh Johnson's numbers....hoooooly crap. 43 touchdowns to 1 interception? Can you do that playing catch in the front yard?
  6. This is gonna make for an interesting competition. No complaints with that pick. I guess it's time to look at high upside linemen (both sides) and DBs, and at least one wideout. I'm not entirely comfortable with Hagan starting by default opposite Ginn.
  7. You know, I like that comparison.
  8. And NOW goes Thomas. And how sad is this? I tried to find out about that trade the Dolphins were involved in. Noting on NFL.com. Nothing on ESPN. I found it on Wikipedia. The Dolphins traded RB Lorenzo Booker, their 3rd rounder from last year, for Philly's fourth round pick.
  9. Merling? I can live with that.
  10. I like Keller, too. Dolphins pick shortly. No idea what to expect. Balmer's gone, and there's another big dropoff at DT. best value is probably at WR, where everybody is still left...or possibly a trade down, since the Dolphins have no 4th or 5th. CB would be a good direction, but the ones I hoped would slip are all gone now...maybe Flowers?
  11. Dolphins made a trade?
  12. So like I said, there are a lot of players available for the Dolphins' next pick.
  13. Also, I'm liking a lot of the options approaching for the Dolphins here. There'll be a good wideout, rb, or corner for them to take with the first pick of the second, and a glud of quarterbacks will be available.
  14. I've been trying to keep up with them a little bit being a local team and all, and they have to be excited to get the top talent in the draft at #5. I haven't read back to their pick at 15, but what do you think of Albert? A lot of people had Albert going at the #5. That's pretty amazing when you think about what actually happened.
  15. Wow, the Steelers got Mendenhall. Mendenhall/Parker?
  16. There goes Jones.
  17. undersized, hasn't really run between the tackles, tailed of in his last college year, his speed isn't especially "standout" in a class full of backs with good speed.
  18. ANOTHER trade. WHat is going on here?
  19. I'd die laughing, you have no idea. This was almost as good.
  20. ...that's kind of odd. I don't like the two round gap in the draft for the Dolphins...and I'm not crazy about getting yet another old DT. but a fourth for two potential starters isn't bad value. Akin is a LB. Fasano is a TE. Right...i was gettimg my thoughts mixed up as I was also looking at the Ferguson trade.
  21. ...that's kind of odd. I don't like the two round gap in the draft for the Dolphins...and I'm not crazy about getting yet another old DT. but a fourth for two potential starters isn't bad value.
  22. With the Dolphins going 3-4 or some hybrid variation thereof, and with their DL from last season being old and injury-ridden, I'm leaning toward a nose tackle prospect at this pick. It's essentially a battle of upside versus production, as Trevor Laws is the safest pick available, but Marcus Harrison, Dre Moore, and Pat Sims are more athletic with greater upside. After having taken a boom-or-busty CB with the last pick, though, We take the safer pick and go with Trevor Laws, DT, Notre Dame with the first pick of the third round.
  23. Dolphins won't go fullback this early after they drafted one that started the second half of last season in Mauia. (besides, I like Hillis better than Schmitt or Hester anyway, and that's not just me being a homer, either--he's a great pass catcher and faster than either of them; a good runner; and a steadily improving blocker. Hester was a slightly better college back, but I don't see his game translating to the NFL. Hillis's versatility will allow him to contribute in more ways. Schmitt will be a blocking headhunting machine, but he won't likely contribute much else.) A defensive tackle, end, or guard would probably be the best picks here for need, though there's still room for a "best available type selection. Research time. why is full back censored?
  24. The Dolphins have a lot of options with this pick. They can go value, as there are some first round graded players who have slipped all the way to the bottom of the 2nd. Felix Jones looms as a value pick. Another Hog, Marcus Harrison, could fulfill a need on the defensive line. DB is also a need, and there are some quality options remaining at this position. In the end, the need for secondary help prompts the Dolphins to select Patrick Lee, CB, Auburn with their second pick in the second round. Lee provides excellent size and speed, but more importantly upside. A late bloomer, he'll have time to grow to his large potential over the Dolphins' rebuilding years.
  25. Texans did it with Mario Williams two years ago.
