  1. Hey guys, I don't think Vogelbach is ready for Boise.
  2. add a walk and another walk
  3. No love for the great Tim Saunders?
  4. I like how he didn't actually answer the first question.
  5. This is one of the arguments that has been going around--that he has the discipline to work deep into counts but not the bat control to take advantage of it.
  6. What did I say that was false? At this point it might be easier to list what you said that wasn't. And I wouldn't hang my hat on being kind of technically right, on accident, once, either.
  7. To be fair, most mid-season prospect rankings had dropped Brett entirely from the top 100, so C.C. is kind of right since we were talking about where he was rated "most recently." CC had no idea he'd been ranked #32 as of the start of this year. He also had no idea where he'd been ranked mid-season. The complete lack of knowledge was the point of the post. So what? Do you have to know a player ranking to judge them? Why do you put so much faith in what BA ranks a player? It has less to do with the specific ranking and more with you saying false things because you don't know what you're talking about.
  8. Mind filling me in on what this is all about?
  9. I was under the impression the the SEC was still a part of college football. My bad. I'll start brushing up on my Northwestern and Purdue knowledge. let me clarify for you, arkansas is the most boring-ass program to a chicago cubs message board, literally no one who matters thinks about arkansas. no one cares about the sec except maybe missouri or tennessee but all programs should generally be avoided. This is correct. People on this board much prefer reading your posts crying about every little thing that happens to, in, or around Illinois to discussing an actual good team. Geography is just that damn important.
  10. Yeah, all joking aside about Saunders, he was holding his own in Daytona. Maybe they want him to get regular ABs? My guess is they want him to play SS regularly every day. From memory, I believe he was mainly playing 3B in Daytona. I'm pretty sure that's not true, especially since he was only called up to Daytona when Alcantara went down.
  11. Villanueva: Oh, so this is what a real ball park, and not a cavern, feels like.
  12. Wow, i just noticed Ben Carhart has 13 walks and 7 K's in 79 ABs. I know not to read too much into it, as he's a 22 year old playing in rookie ball, but it's still pretty interesting to see.
  13. On the other hand, Syndergaard is a way cooler name than Sanchez.
  14. Park/league factors have to be taken into account when making the comparison. Yes, plus how do you just dismiss a 2 year age difference? Not to mention Villanuueva's fielding advantage. Two years, but also two levels. Of course, but Villanueva is more productive at that same level than Vitters was, and we're not having this discussion if Vitters didn't just get his walk rate up to an acceptable level this year.
  15. I think someone flew out of the tab vortex to somewhere other than where they thought they were.

  17. Hendry would have dealt him two weeks ago for half a sandwich and a "get out of jail free" card. Hendry would have held on to him out of respect and then not offered him a qualifying contract. I swear to dog that nobody who complains about Hendry actually remembers how Hendry operated. At least they aren't rude to their pets.
  18. Aside from Maples having pitched 1 professional inning and Vizcaino having already pitched his way to the majors by age 20? Not much.
  19. Yeah, I don't see him taking many walks in this league when he can murder anything anybody throws at him. Why not swing?
  20. Another nice game for lake, 2-4 with a pair of doubles.
  21. Man, it's hard not to get excited about our our top prospects now...too bad they're probably all at least a couple of years from the bigs.
  22. Do you really see them trading him this offseason? There is a gaping hole at 3B. Vitters is young and under cost control for some time. I guess I wouldn't be surprised but if I see them giving him a shot at least. Yeah, I don't think they believe in Vitters as a capable MLB hitter. They traded Colvin and signed a FA RF last year, I imagine that they don't have a problem trading Vitters and going with a more preferred 3B option in FA or trade. I don't really get the connection. Colvin was a 26 year old 4th OF going into his 3rd MLB season and coming off a year in which he was terrible. Vitters is a 22 year old former #3 pick having the best year of his professional career at his highest competition level to date, while showing improvement in teh area of his game that most needs it. There are similarities in approach, but Vitters has considerably more time before the book on him is completed.
