  1. Then the solution is clear, isn't it? Continue trolling the realistic thread?
  2. Isn't ~180 games a larger sample size?
  3. Finding a leadoff hitter is overrated anyway. let Pierre walk, bring up Pie, re-sign Walker, and spend the additional budget on finding a good offensive right fielder.
  4. Pierre can't even muster a grounder to 2nd.
  5. I don't think I've ever seen anyone that far ahead of the organ or the crowd when singing. They were almost a full stanza ahead of the music! Jeff Gordon?
  6. I haven't seen any of the game, and am listening on the radio, but I will say that Guzman is looking good enough that Ron Santo actually appears to be paying attention.
  7. Yep. That was up there to Wood striking out guys on pitches that ended up hitting them. Fernando Vina. Twice. In the same game.
  8. it's a European saddlebag.
  9. He does have a group of guys that show up from time to time with their hair dyed bright red and "M_U_R_T_O_N" painted on their chests.
  10. fire ......? yes, "Fire" is, in fact, the first word. the second is "crotch" Unless that's all one word. it might be, actually
  11. the left field bleachers have another nickname for him. Especially the female denizens of the left field bleachers. It has to do with him having red hair.
  12. it allows us to examine the range of our vocal chords' abilities No, booing is done in a low pitch, there's little differentiation in the range. hmmmm It allows us to gauge our lung capacity?

  14. He saved us, dude. Honestly, I think it's probably because he doesn't strike out or pop up that much. I think the average baseball fan at Wrigley can identify that striking out means you're doing bad, and hitting an infield popup means you're doing bad, but it a guy hits 4 grounders to the second baseman in a game, I don't think the average fan would note that as particularly bad. I think they'd simply think that he didn't find a hole. unfortunately, since neifi swings at everything, he's constantly hitting weak grounders that probably won't find holes, and as such, is bad. But the average fan does not notice that.
  15. They do play that song at Wrigley when the Cubs win.
  16. I have to say that sitting out in the bleachers was absolutely painful for the firs seven innings. Crappy ball from the Cubs, and the bleacher faithful couldn't come up with anything better than "Hey Abercrombie. You suck! Hey Willingham! You suck!" It was embarrassing. 8th inning made up for it, though.
  17. Sorry guys. I take credit for this one. Not only was I in the leftfield bleachers, but I bet my friend beers that, if the Cubs hit a homer, it wouldn't be Jacque Jones who hit it. Also it was my friend's birthday. Also he caught a warmup ball from Juan Pierre. Also, I just got home, and i:"m a bit drunk.
  18. It's the Cubs. The seats will be full no matter what.
  19. Hi, Jimy. Are they spiking the Kool-Aid at MMP or something? I grant that I have only skimmed this thread, but your toolish behavior in it is not what I remember to be your M.O. I agree. I always thought he was fairly respectful and a decent poster.
