  1. Actually, when I was in Pittsburgh, I found that my favorite Pennsylvania beer is Yuengling Amber. Very tasty. Yuengling is brewed in Pottsville, PA, outside of Philly.
  2. My buddies and I at the bar kept count of the number of times Oswaldo Sanchez' dead father was mentioned during the game. 12. Also, there were 8 mentions of Mexico having naturalized citizens on their roster.
  3. I am going to Ginger's Ale House (supposedly the finest soccer bar in Chicago) at 8 Am tomorrow. Should be distastrous.
  4. Yes, yes, yes! I was trying to explain to my buddy earlier why I've decided to cheer for nuclear holocaust. Dos a cero! Dos a cero!
  5. Wouldn't a 360 degree turn mean that it was still controlled by Argentina?
  6. Baros is almost guaranteed to be out of the game against the US.
  7. agreed. But it appears that this ref hates Crouch, so it probably won't happen. the 50-50 balls are giving him trouble beause of his size. He should try to not use his arms as much, otherwise it looks like he's nailing all the 5'7 Paraguians. He didn't deserve the yellow card (and it wasn't for dissent, balboa's just an idiot). Also, he's had a couple of fouls called where he didn't do much of anything. he's definitely getting picked on.
  8. agreed. But it appears that this ref hates Crouch, so it probably won't happen.
  9. Marcelo Balboa is the Joe Morgan of soccer commentators.
  10. You have to be kidding me. The ABC halftime show is from the horse track in Belmont, NY, and after 2 seconds of analysis they just went to a puff piece about World War II.
  11. Report: Seth wants to buy the Cubs.
  12. I enjoy the fact that it's blatantly obvious Marcelo Balboa knows the names of 2 Paraguayans.
  13. The Germany game is on ESPNU right now
  14. I give Hendry credit for not getting him. And, looking at our 2nd base situation, it's very impressive what he's managed to do instead.
  15. Yeah, but the depth of how dull and unimaginative the Polish attack was just can't be understated. It looked like a US team from like 1995 out there. BTW, Seth, what's with the "new" ball? All the announcers are making it seem like it's filled with flubber or something. I'm really, REALLY looking forward to the England/Paraguay game tomorrow, and still on edge about someone wrecking Monday for me. I was really impressed with the fact that Poland waited until the 74th minute to bring in the one guy with offensive creativity. I don't know. I mean, I'm used to the keepers bitching about the new ball before every World Cup, but this complaning seems to be extending. And that Frings goal curved like crazy. It is the first stitchless ball in WC history, maybe that means something.
  16. I remember when the CUBS used to do that. [sigh] I remember Santo saying it...but I don't believe that it ever happened. I think his sugar was just low.
  17. I didn't mind the Poland-Ecuador game. It's amazing how easily a team with little creativity is shut down by a decent defense. Plus, 2 goals and 2 posts is nothing to sneeze at in a game between those two teams.
  18. With the way the ball was flying out of the park yesterday, I wouldn't mind seeing Nevin in the starting line up today. Obviously, sir, you don't understand the importance of manufacturing runs. *said with the same tone as the Dude's "Obviously, sir, you are not a golfer" line*
  19. it is. I'm trying to get around it with a UK proxy. XM has the exclusive rights to the audio broadcasts here and ESPN has the exclusive rights to internet broadcasts and has put them on ESPN360, which I don't get.
  20. Stupid BBC live audio isn't working.
  21. And just to get myself in the mood, even though a US-Mexico game will never happen.... "Dos a cero!" (Clap, clap, clap clap clap) "Dos a cero!" (Clap, clap, clap clap clap)
  22. It will be very interesting to see how Germany plays without Ballack tomorrow.
  23. Completely agreed. And if this ends up true, it wouldn't be all that bad for baseball. Pujols isn't the face of baseball though he may be the best hitter in the game. That's right. The face of baseball is Joe Morgan.
