  1. If we have to play a 5 man infield we are set with 2 infielders in the OF
  2. Lucky break that stayed in but now we need some magic to escape
  3. If the Giants sell maybe we made the Cardinals and Brewers pay a bit more for Smith and Mad-Bum after tonight.
  4. When Tiny Tim pitches it looks like a cheat code where you can use shrunk players in the video game.
  5. Russell hit our 5th hardest ball of the night for a DP after Pablo hit the Giants 3rd hardest fora DP
  6. Heyward taking a step forward to be the hero. Robel needs to figure out those change ups he's been fed since that bomb. Happy to tie it up but going to take a lot to fade a Garcia, Heyward and Bryant in this big OF with Descalso at 2nd.
  7. Too bad Robel wasn't hitting 5th and got to face that FB. Also who is going to play the OF now that Kyle and Albert are out of the game?
  8. Good Job Vic snapping the catchers hit-less streak and making it a 1 run game
  9. We need a hero to show up over these last 9 outs and somehow steal this game and look to stop the bleeding on the road.
  10. Yikes we aren't even on 06 Cardinals road pace
  11. Whats the worst road record for a team to ever make the playoffs.
  12. Yes they can win at home, the issue is winning on the road 18-28 which they have more of the rest of the year. That 7-3 in the last 10 was topped by St Louis who could tie us on the loss side tonight and starting to win on the road and have got very little from some of its best players and have 5 more home games. Then you have the Giants factor as beating us pushes them towards keeping their team together for the manager on his way out and they have 2 of the Cubs bigger needs in LHP one of which can pitch late in games. When losing this series can change Theo's direction at the deadline and we already lost the first game this game its 100% the biggest one of the year to date.
  13. No the way we've played on the road has made this trip way bigger on top of the fact that it falls at the deadline, and a bad trip here could push Theo to stand pat and save his assets for a later date or even sell falling to 3rd. If we played like the Yankees or Dodgers this game wouldn't matter right now. With more road games than home games left and being tied with Miami for the fewest road wins in the NL we can't eat too many more road losses and ever one we do makes it that much harder to ever come close to getting near .500 on the road, and this trip needs to show Theo we have the ability yo win on the road enough to buy.
  14. Less remaining margin for error with 62 games left with less home games and taking place at a make or break time directly before the lone deadline. The next Cardinals and Brewers series will end up being the biggest games of the year as well since if we bottom out on this trip we could end up selling. We have just 6 home games in the next 24 and those home games are the Brewers and the 57-44 A's this game and every road game the rest of the way is massive if you want to make the playoffs.
  15. Which one is has been bigger? If we lose this we haven't won a road series since Mid-May and St Louis could tie us on the loss side. We would be facing a sweep that would push SF 3 games over .500 and take away a potential trade partner who has 3 BP guys we could use. Starting 0-2 on a 9 game trip (8 before the deadline) and falling to 18-29 on the road could set us up to not add big or potentially sell if the rest of the trip is bad and slip to 3rd. This is 100% the biggest game of the year. knock off Mad-Bum, build on Yu's last two starts and then you get a 4.70 ERA guy vs Lester with a chance to snap the drought on the road and have some momentum going into Miller Park.
  16. This is might be the biggest game of the year as we can't afford to lose another series on the road before we play 4 series in a row vs winning teams, 3 of which are in the division. Sad stat of the day is that the Cubs catchers haven't picked up a hit in the last 7 games.
  17. I would like to see Jake Reindl get sent to AFL and try to make up for lost time after making his Cubs debut the 13th after being in the 2018 draft.
  18. Seems hard to buy since it was the 4th hardest hit ball and the 4th highest xBA and the only barrelled ball that wasn't a HR
  19. 18-28 on the road and 5-0 of that vs last place Miami and Seattle the two biggest tankers makes me feel we are going to miss the playoffs as we have more road games than home games left.
  20. Would love to see Roederer to get hot and salvage some OPS and build towards next year when he could be easy to bottom out dealing with the grind of a full season of pro ball for the first time.
  21. Sucks Alzolay got hurt again. I don't have faith he would ever stay healthy enough to count on as a SP, but I felt that before today and would been fine with sending him to KC as part of a package to get Merrifield. Hope I'm wrong since his trade value has tanked with this latest injury and poor results after those 4 inning appearances. Whats the deal with Alex Guerra still being in AZ after a .800+ OPS there last year and now mashing it for a 1.200+ OPS being way too old to still be there?
  22. Happ needs to be starting for the Chicago Cubs tomorrow. He's hot and there is just a couple weeks until the deadline, It would be lame to trade him without another shot. Wish he was there tonight since he has great numbers off Castillo
  23. Feel like we are going to see every single player on the MLB roster and all the top prospects spend some time on the IL this year.
  24. Theo is losing his fastball. Hope this turns out to be more or becomes better than it looks on paper. I fully expected use to sell Monty for some IFA pool money or to fill out of bigger trade not to add a defensive catcher who can't hit. He's been terrible but the possibility of being a cost controlled SP the next two year should have had a hell of a lot more value than this.
  25. Sucks that all 3 of 17 year old Richard Gallardo ER came off a 3-run HR with 2 outs to 35 year old MLB vet Nick Hundley. The good news is that Jake Reindl finally made his professional debut. He got rehabbing Top-100 prospect Sean Murphy to ground out a pair of K's but one reached on the ball getting away from the catcher then a another ground out to end his inning.
