  1. If I vote for Pedro, maybe Maddux will win 20 games, Another Cy Young, lead us to a World Series victory, and enter the HOF as a Cub.
  2. Is it time to start a Greg Maddux BandWGN?
  3. That was hilarious...What could be better than a Dr. Claw reference?
  4. I'm all for it, of course I'm in Colorado so it would mean 6 more Cubs games every year.
  5. Yes, but Joe Morgan is a Hall of Famer, and he can make those calls from a Hall of Famer's perspective. You don't get into the Hall of Fame unless you know smart baseball. By the way, did you know that Joe Morgan is in the Hall of Fame? Because he's very modest and doesn't talk about it very often.
  6. Looks alot like mine, except no Idol, and you've gotta keep the TV on another half hour after Earl. "The Office" is the best show on TV. (I like Big Love, but I'm really sick of seeing Bill Paxton's ass every week, and still no nudity from Margine.) Oh, and I agree soccer10k, but I doubt they've watched the games ans I doubt anyone in the national media is gonna jump on our bandwagon right away.
  7. Does Murton look like he's bulked up this year?
  8. I dunno, I didn't think the article was that scathing. Really just put together all the dark clouds that are now part of his legacy. I actually agree with most of the points he made, and while I'll always have love for Sammy, there's no denying that the last few years have destroyed his reputation. The question is, will Sammy be a first ballot hall of famer, or will the writers try to punish him based on the cork incident and his suspicious decline?
  9. Finally an article that backs up my thinking. I feel like I've been taking crazy pills.
  10. Thinking about this trade is making me ill. I just threw up in my mouth a little bit. I just wish we would get a report that Hendry has come to his senses and told the Orioles to pound sand.
  11. Big Red sounds good, but I don't really want to have to type it in a game thread.
  12. That trade proposal made me throw up in my mouth a little bit. Even if it was A-Ram straight up for Tejada, the Cubs are a weaker team offensively.
  13. Well, at least I was able to get drunk. I went to all three games, and the Cub fans definately were the overwhelming majority...it's too bad they couldn't pull out another win or two. Where Friday gave me hope, Saturday and Sunday have ushered me into hoplessness for this season. I'm exhausted. Corey Patterson is the most frustrating player ever. Hey, at least Football is about to start.
  14. Of people who are still playing who I wish we still had: Starter-Moises Alou Bench- Kenny Lofton Pitcher-Kyle Farnsworth
  15. Even if Patterson comes back, I keep Hairston in the leadoff role, and maybe move him to left. In 03' Lofton showed what a real leadoff hitter can add- and Hairston is the closest thing we have. I have a feeling Hairston is going to get hot in the second half finally getting regular playing time.
  16. I thought that the writer wrote a really good article considering the assignment he was given. He maybe went a little too far,but in the end, he did the right thing, and spoke not as a reporter but as a human being.
  17. While Dusty hasn't exactly managed that well, and in hindsight Hendry didn't make the moves he needed to, I don't think firing them is the answer. People seem to forget that we have had two consecutive winning seasons under Dusty, something that the Cubs weren't able to do in more than 2 decades. Before the season, the only areas I really questioned were LF and a closer. WHo would have guessed that Nomar would be hitting .150 and then go down for the season? Did anyone really expect Corey to be this bad? Hawkins to be horrible to the point of a trade before the All Star break, or for Wood and Prior to be injured again, and not return to form...or Zambrano to be so inconsistent? I honestly thought Rusch would step in for Clement and be fine. things haven't gone according to plan, and it's not like either of them have easy solutions that new management could cure. There have also been things that were better than expectedm like Lee's unbelievable season, Burnitz being better than Sammy(especially defensively) and Dempster stepping in and competently closing. The bottom line is that no one is hitting right now, and you can only blame Dusty to a point. This is a rough streak, but the season isn't over. Look at the Astros last year- everyone had written them off at the halfway poin and they came back to take the Wildcard.
