If you read the article, you'll see that his arm troubles began when Girardi sent him back into a game after an 82-minute rain delay. I'm no doctor, but I don't think that caused it either. It's not like we're talking about with muscles, tendons, or ligaments. If his problem really is nerve damage, I would think that would take quite awhile to manifest, and would be due to something being wrong over time. That said, that was a bad move on his part. I'm surprised that Girardi did that, you would think if anyone was sympathetic to pitchers in those kinds of situations, it would be a catcher.
