  1. 5 with Cubs, 4 with Cards, 3 with Braves.
  2. Outside of Clemens and Johnson, everyone on that list is in the Hall except Blyleven. I still don't see why he isn't voted in.
  3. Is Walt Weiss's mother a writer? I really wish these votes would be made public so that these people will have to explain why they voted the way they did.
  4. Do you think this is a better move than non-tendering him? Trading him is indeed a better move than non-tendering but he would have been good as a backup OFer especially now that we all know Grissom will be our guy. I must have missed the memo - I didn't know Grissom was going to be our guy? With Hendry and Baker at the helm I got $10 bucks that says Grissom will make the team as a backup OFer. and the moment Murton goes 0-4, Grissom becomes the starter, and no matter how bad Grissom plays, Murton won't get put in.
  5. but yet, Pittsburgh just keeps giving them more chances...
  6. ehh, doesn't matter, Cinci is moving backwords.
  7. I agree. He was a good starter before Palmer came, which is why I didn't understand the announcers acting like losing Palmer was a death blow It definitely looks like losing Palmer is going to cost them...not. Kitna looks like he has been doing this all season.
  8. It helps that Eli keeps forgetting what team he's on.

So am I and it looks like I may be 3-0 soon. I'm just worried about by Bengals pick, that game looks like a toss up.
  10. You have a good point. I would rather see them in the Carolinas or near Las Vegas. The Carolinas because of the strong baseball roots there, LV due to the size. I know what people say about gambling, but the thing is that gambling happens anyways and a team in LV won't be any more or less likely to have it be a problem.
  11. probably not before the 2007 season at the earliest.
  12. They sign the top draft pick from lsat year to a $6 mil. contract
  13. Matos is horrible. I would take CPatt easily over Matos. He makes way to much and is not a good player.
  14. I don't think I could sleep right now. What an exciting game.
  15. I know he's an aggressive guy, but I really would've made Texas go the extra 30+ yards by punting that last 4th down. Clock would've been a much bigger enemy for UT then. I liked the move going for it. They should have just let the Youngs score faster! I would have gone for it, especially with how good White was doing against this defense.
  16. i'm sure it was mentioned earlier in the thread "don't want to go back 15 or so pages" but why in the heck did he call for a timeout on the 2 point conversion? He pretty much set himself up for Texas to win after that seeing they couldn't stop the clock at all on their final drive. Carroll definitely did not have his greatest game ever coaching. I personally don't think he called it. I think a player called it. He looked pissed after it was called.
  17. yeah i saw that too. Me and my buddies pretty much said the same thing about him. USC's offense did a great job against Texas' defense, but they did not lose the game. Vince Young stepped up and won it. Why couldn't Leinart just man up to Texas and say they played one hell of a ballgame? Man, and I thought Leinart was a decent guy. Although Young was being a jerk for saying whose the real Heisman. Bush is. He won it. Come back next year and win it. If the Heisman voting ended tomorrow, I would bet that the race would be much closer than it was in December. of course, heck, Young would probably win. But it isn't tomorrow.
  18. Probably. But then again there are not that many VYoung's or Michael Vick's around. I wonder what would happen if Bush was a QB on his HS team instead of RB, and was recruited as a QB? I don't think there will be a movement. While there will be players like Vick and Young, they will be rare and being QB is a very difficult position. Throwing the ball accurately is really hard. Micheal Robinson is an example of a very athletic WR moved to QB, and while he has had some success, he probably won't make a big splash in the NFL, at least not as a QB, but I could see him moved back to WR. Matt Jones from Arkansas is a freakish athlete, and had success in college with not much around him. He was moved to WR. Like you said, Robinson will probably get a shot in the NFL at WR. Randle El is a WR. I think he may get a shot as a QB somewhere, he is a very athletic and does have a pretty good head, but will more than likely end up a WR/Kick returner. I also think he may end up a safety.

  20. agreed. The NFL and NBA don't come close to matching the intensity of college football and college basketball. Winning for a school/students always trumps winning for a city (read: winning for cash) Meanwhile college baseball doesn't get a large enough following.

  22. Penn State won 20 years ago, but don't know the date. New Year's Day. Ahhh. Remember when all of the games were on New year's? That was nice. Now you rarely see 2 bowl games on at the same time. Thanks, corporate greed! My dad and I ran into downtown State College and celebrated with what few students were in town over the hollidays. Ah to be 11 again. Or to have Penn State win another title. My parents took me to the airport to greet the team in both '82 and '86 I didn't live in SC yet in '82. I do remember being at a Youth Group function at my church and John Shaffer (sp?) was there and waiting to hear if the got drafted. Didn't happen. Wow... I feel young... I wasn't even alive for those...
  23. What? How did they not? They were given the trophy and declared Nat. Champions... because the BCS is BS. Had LSU played USC, we would have had a champion. But they didn't, so we don't know. I don't think the BCS system justifies declaring LSU the champion just because a bunch of greedy schools agreed to a clearly flawed system. I really don't understand why anyone cares so much though? Are you that defensive of LSU or just that hateful of USC? Hmm... I think the fans of LSU care. You are basically saying that their national championship didn't count while yours did, despite not actually winning it.
