  1. I went to a Frederick (O's High A) vs Winston-Salem (WS High A) game this past Saturday and the ump was horrible. First he calls a W-S guy out on a play much like yours with a swinging bunt down the first base line that the Fred. pitcher fielded and then had to dive for the tag because both the firstbaseman and the secondbaseman broke for the ball, despite the fact that it looked like the pitcher missed, and then on the first play of the top of the next inning, the first baseman for W-S fielded a ball and clearly tagged the Frederick runner, but the runner was called safe. The W-S manager argued and managed to get the call reversed after bringing in the homeplate ump. Later in the game, on what was a tailor made double play ball to short, the SS for Winston-Salem underthrew the ball to 2B, causing the 2nd baseman to misplay it and have it come out of his glove, the runner slid in, clearly safe because the ball was on the ground, but the ump still called him out and would not listen to the Fred manager. This probably cost Fred the game as they were rallying from being down 5-0 and were down 5-3 with runners on 1st and 2nd and 1 out in the inning. That and he blew a couple of pick offs that were the Fred pitcher clearly had the guy.
  2. I don't get it either. Does the completely useless by September acronym really apply to anything besides the 1969 and 2004 teams? I can't think of any other teams that were actually successful enough to choke in the regular season. 2001?
  3. The F5 key is your friend.
  4. That move would be a trade for the sake of making a trade at this point, not really making the team better, which is incredibly stupid. Hendry wants to trade Jones, and thinks that he has too, which is wrong.
  5. DFA Hill, 4 K's today. Talk about a wasted roster spot.
  6. Agreed. However Im sure Angelo has already approached that possible problem before making this trade. I think Walker could excel in this system. Hey National "experts" hows the crappy Bears offseason looking now? Keep doubting them The national morons, I mean "experts," will keep doubting and bad mouthing the Bears as long as Grossman is quarterback and nobody else is brought in. In their eyes, hes one of the worst in the league.
  7. two walks in a row... what do you do? Pop out on the first pitch Hope you enjoy AAA, Mike, because you sure as hell ain't going to be in the majors for much longer with that crap.
  8. accordng to gameday, that first ball was right down the middle of the plate...
  9. If he is, he picked a great time to come back, just in time to help continue the climb as other players slide a little.
  10. What about RF? could he be a decent platoon partner with Floyd? .820 ops against lefties this past month isnt great, but still better than what we've had.
  11. 1.5 BACK! PICKED UP A GAME AND A HALF! WOO!
  12. http://www.retroimg.com/work/hindenburg.jpg OH THE HUMANITY! http://farm1.static.flickr.com/2/1362599_02bcdea730.jpg
  13. nah, we really didn't talk much baseball, he doesn't follow it much, just said that Dunn was a good guy and what not.
  14. Yeah, just got back from playing golf, ended up playing with one of the assistant coaches (mike something) at Xavier, who apparently lives next door to Adam Dunn in the summer.
  15. Great trade Hendry, really has worked out well, hasn't it? Its bad when you want Koyie Hill to be playing.
  16. Is it weird that we would rather have Jacque Jones up?
  17. Whelp, glad to see the Cubs are back to being the stupidest team in the majors. I was worried for a while that they might have gained some semblance of intelligence.
  18. Yes, the Reds actually did something!
  19. I'm guessing this is in preparation for the World Series, since you have 9 position players listed there.
