  1. #*%^ the heck is going on here? Hill and Jones doing good? What strange dimension have I fallen intoooooooooooooooooo!
  2. LOL..who did that fatass know in the Tribune company to get such a job. c'mon... he works on the grounds crew, it's not like you have to be in peak physical condition to do that sort of thing. I feel bad for the guy, he's obviously overweight and wasn't able to keep up with the rest of the grounds crew, and for some reason the ESPN cameraman saw fit to single him out on national television. You don't have to be in peak physical shape, but for crying out loud...the little slob probably will collapse on the field someday. Okay, both of you need to get your asses kicked. Just because he's overweight means he shouldn't be allowed to do anything physical? Screw you than, maybe he should just go sit on his ass and get fatter? Yeah, great plan.
  3. LOL!! I was in the same camp... Nevermind for me also. To paraphrase him: This is the same team that lost 96 games last year, all that changed is the attitude. He forgot the addition of a few key players...
  4. I ahd to stop watching on ESPN because of the constant Cubs bashing by whoever is working with Rick...
  5. I despite him? WTH does that mean? :P
  6. I remember a few games early in the season where the Cubs were getting walked with the bases loaded. Todd Walker!
  7. So true. As soon as I got to RFK Stadium and saw our lineup flash on the scoreboard, I knew any sort of W would be gladly taken. Lou must've figured that with now-minor league washout Tim Redding on the mound (vs. Z), scratching out 3-4 runs would be doable even without Ram. Another huge pro-Cubs crowd...tonight I'd say it was closer to 45-50%, definitely an even better Northside showing than yesterday. Only negative from tonight IMO is Derrek- the guy's swing just doesn't feel right. Driving every single ball right into the ground with little burst whatsoever. When you watch him swing, you don't even get the sense that 6 HRs in July is abnormal. That's how 'off' he seems to me. PS Marmol is absolutely filthy. The Nats fans (who of course had no clue who Carlos was) couldn't believe how badly he embarassed Belliard in the 7th with men on, the key AB of the game. Yea I got the feeling there was quite a few Cubs fans there tonight when it looked like the crowd gave Z a standing O when he was leaving. We did. :) I was in row 5, section 117 -- behind home plate and a little towards the 3rd base dugout. Incredible seats. Highlight of the game: Marmol's first pitch to Belliard. That had incredible movement. Unhittable. Is that the PNC Diamond Club area? I got to eat dinner in the buffet area above the right field wall last night (it pays to be connected)
  8. Notes from my vantage point at the game (front row of the upper deck down the left field line, section 440, really nice seats if you don't really care if you're up close to the player (I got to do that last night): 1. Lee: Drop the appeal man, take a few games, since the first game against the Rockies, where you went 3 for 4, you are 4-24, gotta step it up. 2. Z: You rocked, but next time please don't walk the guy batting .180 twice. Especially when it loads the bases. (1 run on no hits in the 5th is pathetic, make them earn it). (Lilly should take note, don't walk guys who's BA is lower then yours... L: .118, Jimenez: .056) And next time you want to hit Robert Fick, alright by me, just get the next outs. 3. Marmol made Belliard look foolish on the first pitch, awesome, continued to rock. 4. Howry: Nice Job 5. Koyie Hill: Go back to Iowa. 1-3, 4-3, GIDP with a runner on 3rd, Pop out... Tell Soto to come on up, he outta at least be able to hit a fly ball with 1 out and a runner on third. 6. Washington Nationals: When more than half the fans are rooting for the other team, and providing you with revenue, don't insult them by playing a game where a Nats fan has to guess when the Cubs last won a WS, were in a WS, and what fan interfered in the 03 NLCS. Want to be a respected organization? Try not being Busch League, then maybe somebody will. 7. To the idiot who came over and started yelling in the bottom of the ninth at Soriano: He sleeps very well, probably on a mound of cash, with many beautiful women.
  9. From the front row of the upper deck down the 3rd base line I could tell he was absolutely untouchable tonight.
  10. Well, that was fun to be at. Got to go onto the field during Cubs BP and snap some photos (to be posted later) and then had a great game to watch. Its great when you know somebody who works for the team in a higher up manner.
  11. Some rumors: Cubs may push up Z in order to get him into the AS game break in line to pitch in the game... 2: Possible naming rights for the new Nats stadium: Qatar Airlines, Smithfield Foods.
  12. Bowie was originally going to be going today, but they moved back Simontacchi because they had three lefties going otherwise, signaling that they're idiots and fail to realize: 1. Simontacchi isn't that good. 2. The Cubs don't do well against lefties. Yep, the Nats made the series easier. Also, win you cowards, because I'm going to be there.
  13. While I like that one, vance, I think this one is also a great summation, especially the bolded part:
  14. According to Gameday its 9mph out to RF. Good news for Cliff.
  15. Barrett just threw out Dave Roberts trying to steal second to end the game in the bottom of the 10th, giving SD a win
  16. Kornheiser's reasons why Baylor would be a good pick: 1. He came up with the O's. 2. He has history with MacPhail. Great reasons, Tony. Now you might want to find actual ones.
  17. look at the end of the game thread, be prepared to mute the Cubs obsessed "White Sox" fan.
  18. It's not yet on the Marlins official message board, or the espn version. Although I don't think many people use either. Marlins official message board = wasted space.
  19. yeah, if it was just some random poster who nobody really knows, I would have more serious doubts, but Reds44 atleast has some history here. Also, if this does turn out to be true, this is the second time this month NSBB has scooped a roster move before the press release.
  20. I know one of the Corporate Sales Managers for the Nationals. He's going to get my family into the restaurant for dinner before the Cubs game on the 2nd.
  21. Hopefully Jones has been traded for a bucket of balls, this would clear a 40 man spot and a 25 man spot.
  22. The only time I can recall is the Brett Pine tar incident. I think you're right in how it works, and there is no way this one is overturned.
  23. I'm pretty sure CB Bucknor is going to behind home tomorrow, but I can't remember if thats good or bad..
