You know, I am old enough to remember "the Bowa trade." And while it is a great story that a HOFer was a throw-in, it is simply not true. DeJesus was the prize the Phillies wanted. We took their old SS to fill the position, but the prospect was the key to the trade. I believe we asked for Julio Franco and settled for Sandberg. i thought i heard at the time of the deal somewhere that hendry wouldn't have pulled the trigger without murton being involved, and that he was the only reason boston fans didn't like the deal initially. funny how we have to take from others' farm systems to produce a good, patient at the plate position player. i guess no so much funny as sad :( I was not speaking to the equivalence of the Sandberg and Murton trades. I am saying that Sandberg was not a throw in. Kudos to Hendry for getting somebody who might be good. If he isn't, what's new?
