  1. Thank you for taking that 3-1 get me over fastball
  2. KB should be performing a lot better in high leverage situations. He's too good not to.
  3. Meh, Davis is better and only cost half the players. Wilson has another year of control and Grimm sucks. But this isn't to argue that this would have been a better deal than the Davis deal. Only that my proposal was not nearly as awful as it was deemed at the time.
  4. Just looked at Soler's stats. The dude has doubled-down on a patient approach (40% swing) and is showing a strong discernment on pitches to swing at... and he's been rewarded with a 250 wOBA. Of course he still pours on the negative defensive value. He horsefeathering sucks. Wonderful trade by Theoyer. Really hope this gives us a slight inside edge to bringing Davis back after the season. Doubtful but who knows. What I will say is that I proposed Soler + Grimm for Justin Wilson before the season and let's just say, the idea was not met with positive responses. Who cares. No big deal. But JFC that would have been a coup. Wilson has been ridiculous. Now he's gonna get a massive haul if they move him at the deadline.
  5. I'm not really worried about them being unproductive, but it's not great making them the players who get the most PAs today when they're both have a decent risk of having multiple at bats over in 1-2 pitches where they're duped into rolling over or something. It's a nitpicky complaint, but the reason that Zobrist, Schwarber, and Bryant are great for the top of the order is not only their production, but that they're properly selective. Almora has shown glimpses of doing so this year but never in MiLB, and Baez has never been close. In other words, a lineup spearheaded by Baez and Almora isn't going to run Moore's pitch count to 100 in the 5th inning unless they're knocking the crap out of him. It's a small effect, but it does matter when there are alternatives that could give you a better shot at that opportunity without doing something silly like hitting Heyward 2nd against a LHP. Ok I understand your qualm now. That's valid. Can't dispute that their agressiveness could certainly work against them. I'm simply looking at it from the production standpoint and I believe this lineup will produce several runs.
  6. He does have 100 PA vs them with a 500 OPS and 40 Ks. It could very well be the former you suggested.
  7. I don't think we have enough from Happ to decide that yet. But what we do have is Almora holding a 1.0 BBK at a sparkling 13.9%. Javy last year is what they're hoping is coming along this season. For some reason he went like 2 for his first 20 (or something) but now he is coming back around and has a 300 wOBA vs them. Last year he posted a 360 wOBA and even a K rate below 20 at 18%. Traditionally he has put up big numbers against LHP. Just watching Javy and Al vs LHP - you can tell they are much more comfortable at the plate than they are vs RHP. Their pitch recognition is far better , and they make much stronger contact. Now Miggy over Willy... makes no sense. Really at all.
  8. Man that 1-3 should set the tone tonight but then again I thought our lefty killers would punish Blach
  9. Tell ya what: what Bud Black is doing in Colorado is very impressive
  10. Like him a lot. He looks to be a very useful player, being able to play all 3 OF positions. He shows really good command of the strikezone and he has at least average power. There's plenty of potential there.
  11. Zack Short has drawn 36 walks while the next closest competitor in his league has drawn 31. This guy's out-of-nowhere success reminds me a little of Tim Saunders. I'm sure that's a name that hasn't floated around here in a while. He exploded on the scene and hit 380 in his first pro season, blowing through R, skipping A-, and reaching Class-A advanced ball. He was way less disciplined than Short at the plate but his bat seemed to have plenty of potential. Unfortunately he had a hip injury and then tore his UCL and was never able to get back on track. But that first year, despite all the Ks, was pretty damn great.
  12. I took an elbow battling down low in a pickup basketball game last week in that area that Puig just got hit in... still hurts a little to breathe today. Coughing really sucks.
  13. Lynn's only through 8. St Louis is on the road. Duh my bad Any way, that sucked.
  14. Lynn just finished his 9 innings and Kershaw is going out to finish the shutout of the Cards. Impressive pitchers duel. Only a Grandal solo HR on the board.
  15. Would Shark interest anybody if he became available?
