  1. What a brutal line again from our Ace. Not all his fault but he didn't exactly stem the tide.
  2. The walk to Hamilton should not have happened but this inning has been disgustingly annoying.
  3. Did anyone actually think Almora was gonna put the ball in play? I mean I give the guy a break for being a lefty killer and much needed in that sense and he forms a great platoon for a pretty weak OF. But that dude seriously sucks against RHP. He's young and hopefully he improves in the near future but right now his ABs are generally cringy against them.
  4. Just skimming this thread but I'm definitely doing the same lately. It feels like there's been several games where he's been asleep at the wheel and not playing the best match ups. The division being up for grabs certainly doesn't help my annoyance level.
  5. I mean if anybody but Wilson gave up that fluky-ass double they'd probably get the benefit of the doubt but unfortunately Wilson hasn't earned that. But that was some horsefeathers. In on his hands - not many hitters are able to slice that pitch oppo down the line. The walk was bad but the rest of the inning was just about the worst possible outcomes for the contact that was made. It sucks. Duke laid out that the beauty in his fastball probably won't be detectable by the naked eye - being a rising fastball. But the whiff rate it induced surely means he has good stuff. He just hasn't worked out yet [emoji53] I obviously hope you're right, I want him to do well, and hopefully some of the numbers he's put up with Detroit start showing up with some positive regression here. Just don't like what my stupid, untrained, eyes have seen so far. Hopefully he gets some lower leverage opportunities soon to work things out. He hasn't exactly come in, in spots so far with margin for error. I thought last night would've been a good time to get him in to figure his horsefeathers out. Thought the same. I don't know that it would've made a difference but it felt like a good time to use him. I totally share the frustration. He has not been good at all.
  6. I know I've said it before, even to you. His stuff just looks so pedestrian outside of a fast, fastball. He can't control the FB or control or command anything off-spead or with movement. I just don't see a light at the end of the tunnel for him being more than a slightly above replacement level relief pitcher, which fine we have like 3-4 guys who are really good. Like when Carl and Strop have gone bad before the nastiness of their stuff you can still see is there it's jus they get wild from time to time but the stuff still looks good. Wilson's stuff just isn't very good. I mean if anybody but Wilson gave up that fluky-ass double they'd probably get the benefit of the doubt but unfortunately Wilson hasn't earned that. 7. I'm surprised such level-headed people have put so much stock in such a small sample. Duensing had like an 8 ERA after his first 10 or so innings this year.
  8. Joe's made some indefensible choices lately. Pissing me the horsefeathers off.
  9. If you're talking about the "Bountiful Crop" article from the 14th, there really isn't much there. Here's the entirety of the Maples part. http://www.baseballamerica.com/minors/dillon-maples-typifies-cubs-pitching-development/#P8D5vuubmqvEOgdv.97 Thanks, I thought it would be a lot more than that.
  10. BA just published an article on Maples Anybody got a sub and can post it?
  11. horsefeathers it, he escaped. Brutal control today.
  12. Hopefully we will be seeing a lot of this for the next 3 months
  13. Solid stuff from our table setters today
  14. What's the best site to look at spray charts? Baseball Savant is pretty good. You can break things down there and search and filter for all different sorts of things. Here is Avila's spray chart from this year: http://i.imgur.com/1xvoHdH.png He's a pretty weird player. That is weird as horsefeathers. It doesn't even seem possible. Is this something that's pretty consistent throughout his career?
  15. He pretty much pulls every ground ball and hits every fly ball the other way. And he also sprays line drives to every field, equally. He's good a really weird looking spray chart. What's the best site to look at spray charts?
  16. Let it hit you Jason Reds have done it twice today
  17. Really disappointed in Bryzzo that inning Avila worked a good AB
  18. Damn now that's a couple beautiful plays by Javy
  19. His control has been complete horsefeathers 4 pitch walk to bring up Votto
  20. That was just a terrible play, no need to rush
  21. Come the hell on Q, stop giving away free bases
