  1. Thanks Tim! Been too long. I got to watch Bryant, Almora and Soler in a few AFL games out here and I'm finally excited about Cubs baseball again.
  2. I tossed those 3 back and forth, but the fact that A&M has the state of Texas and Louisiana next door to recruit from makes that a better situation in my mind. Georgia? That's debatable. Nebraska largely has to recruit nationally to be successful because there isn't a regional recruiting base to count on, then couple that with the fact that Georgia is always on national TV. Most recruits don't even know who Tom Osborne is. Not trying to bash the program. Hell, I'd love for Arkansas to be anywhere near where Nebraska is. Have you been happy with Bielema? I'm asking because he did good thing with Wiskey but I just never cared for him. The hire was a surprise to me. You are unfortunately right about my program - 97 was a long time ago.
  3. The attendance point is exaggerated. While Georgia kills both NU & A&M, A&M finished 11th and Nebraska 12th in average home attendance last season. This was before adding another 5-6k seats for this year and beyond. I know sold tickets and butts in seats aren't the same everywhere, but they have been in Lincoln since 1962 for an NCAA record 331 straight games. It is an even bigger disparity when considering the Huskers were 6th in overall attendance with over a million diehards buying tickets to see them home, neutral and away last season. Haters can bash NU for many things, but the fan base isn't one of them.
  4. The general consensus is that if Pelini wins the division and gets us to the Big 10 title and beyond without major embarrassments, he'll be retained. If he is, he desperately needs to gut and redo the coaching staff. Your list is probably about on target. Even so, what is Pelini's job security there? Furthermore, how does the Nebraska job measure up against other potential job openings? At first glance: 1. Texas 2. USC 3. Florida 4. A&M (if Sumlin leaves) 5. Georgia 6. Nebraska (recruiting base hurts here) If Michigan were to become open (doubtful) maybe put them at 3b?
  5. Been a rough year for my Huskers with our 4-year starter senior QB, junior WR/Punt Returner and three upper classmen (2 seniors and a junior) offensive linemen going down to injury. The losses were the usual embarrassment, as well as tape-gate coming out for Pelini. All that being said, this game against MSU is huge for us, and keep our divisional hopes alive. Go Big Red!
  6. Rather than a manager change, I'd prefer a roster good enough to make the manager basically irrelevant. I could take Sveum or leave him; I can't take the state of our 25-man. The future looks bright, but I've fallen into that trap a few times during the past 27 years. Hopefully the kids develop quickly.
  7. You have to admire this team's creativity in their losing efforts at least.
  8. These run expectancy numbers make me want to hurt myself
  9. I don't ask for much, but a catcher who can catch and throw a baseball doesn't seem like an unreasonable request.
  10. Rules. 3 more to go and salvage this one.
  11. We should be so thankful he is better than hot garbage. Well, they combined to start 26 games for us last year. So yeah, I think you should be thankful. Maholm is supposed to start 35... We may as well line up a tee a home plate for those 35 games. It'd be the same outcome.
  12. The year isn't going horribly enough, so why not spend time reminding us how the Yankees have 27 championships and we haven't won one in more than a century? Also, let's get in the jabs about Bartman to promote their upcoming 30 for 30 special about a ridiculous topic that only Cub haters ever talk or think about. The east coast bias is in full effect this weekend. Then again, maybe I'm just bitter.
  13. It's my first year living in Arizona (Chandler), and I can't wait to hit up Mesa for some ST games. It's that rare time of year where I still have a tiny bit of hope!
  14. BBB - As usual, your posts are among the most insightful and entertaining here sir. Just as a follow up, if I were one of Ricketts' peers, I would tell everybody who would listen what a genius Jim Hendry is. After all, what better way to compete against the Cubs then to keep them worthless for as long as possible?
  15. I'm gonna have to quit watching this mess in order to retain some small amount of sanity.
