    Congrats to the Cubs ownership . They just won the dork of the week award from Ken Rosenthal . Well deserved

    Not surprise at all . I do think that they are facing some sort of payroll cut . While it may not be big , it does have an impact . We have to remember that they dont use all available money in the off season . If they are facing a 10 mil or so cut then they would have like 40 left and when you factor the money for in season , then i wouldnt be surprised if they have closer to 30 available , ínstead of 50 . So far they have traded for a cheap reliever that pitched more like 4:00 era guy last season , sign two pre arbi deals with a couple guys out of options that some could argue should have been non tendered . Finally traded for a junk back up catcher candidate. The moves they are making point to an executive , who is facing payroll cut IMO . I think their best bet to try and compete, would be keeping Bellinger , trading for a cost control SP and signing Sasaki . Use the limited funds they have after that and get 1 or two real reliever s and a couple of bench bats .

    If Bellinger doesn’t opt out , they aren’t doing much on offense other than a catcher . I would expect a SP though and a couple of relievers . It’s going to be a really boring offseason .

    Taylor Rogers just got put on waivers by the Giants . He has 1 year left at 11 mil . If they will end over the tax this year , they should maybe put a claim on him ? A high leverage lefty is a need for 25.

    So a couple of days ago Sharma said it doesn’t look like the Cubs are going to sign Soto and today they mentioned Santander as a possible target . Can’t say that I am surprised . Santander depending on Bellinger opt out / catcher / 1 SP and 2 relievers will probably be the off-season plan IMO.

    This clown isn’t even good enough to know when he should stay under the LT . Going to be sweet when they stay under next season . Sad thing is his extension is probably at Ricketts desk already .

    Hopefully they can trade Neris and Smyly and n the next couple of hours . Philly looking for a CF . Would love to move Bellinger , but that ain’t happening . Think they are making a mistake in not moving Taillon . I think he is an upper 3 ‘s low 4 ‘s era the next 2 years making 17 per . Not terrible but that money could be better used elsewhere .

    I really don’t mind trading Morel . Even if he becomes a thing with the bat , he just had no future with Cubs .

    I know Anthony Santander isn’t a good fielder but I wouldn’t hate him as a DH - RF splitting time with Suzuki . Seems like he has found himself as a hitter at age 29 . Lots of HR , switch hits , really good numbers with RISP the last 2 years . Yes I would like Soto but that ain’t happening . Also unless he goes on a tear when he comes back , Bellinger may actually stay next year . Bellinger in CF with Santander - Suzuki as RF / DH . .

    Really don’t care about Suzuki or any of them . With that said Suzuki isn’t getting traded .

    They were always going to sell . They are over the luxury tax . They were not going to go over 2 years in a row and o am sure they prefer to go over next season if needed . If they can’t move Bellinger due to the fracture is going to be interesting to see if they move Taillon . Read something about the Red Sox having interest in him today . Hopefully they can get someone to take on Neris based on track record
