  1. How about Jermaine Johnson instead?
  2. At this rate, Alec Pierce might not even be there for the Bears at 39.
  3. Jesus. I thought he already did that like 2 years ago!
  4. Tiger made the cut and tied for 19th. Just crazy.
  5. Now we know why Cubs have a low payroll this year.
  6. What made it even sweeter is that I won $175 on this game for having the winner 1 and loser 7 square in the March Madness game that my buddy do every year!
  7. IIRC, I think Cruikshank is very good defending against TEs, but yes, he's another DHC type. If we can sign a capable SS to start and then a minimum $$ FS to back up Jackson/5th safety, I'm fine with the safeties as a group. Do Bears normally have 5 safeties on their roster?
  8. Does that mean Foles gonna get traded? I can't imagine Siemian being QB3.
  9. Don't know why, but Todd Helton comes to mind when I see that swing. Then again, it's been like 15 years since I've seen Helton's swing so I could be totally off here. I know he used to have a way open stance, but then he closed it during his career at one point and that's the swing I'm thinking of.
  10. Never mind. I guess Poles decided to sign Justin Jones for 3T. That'll save them some money to spend it elsewhere. Not sure if this signing change the comp picks or not though.
  11. Could the Bears still sign him again? Like on a 1 yr "prove you bounce back healthy" type deal at a low cap hit since he won't have that big of market now teams know he failed a physical. Not sure if that ever happened where a team not sign a player cuz of a physical, but offered another deal at a lower price because of it.
  12. Not sure why you guys are talking like the stadium will be domed or convertible. It's totally going to be open air so there's no need for growing lights or rolling fields. Plus it's cheaper!!
  13. Not only that, but Patrick played for Getsy and they're putting him at C (although he can play G as well) since he knows the playbook. Be nice for Fields to have that C who knows the schemes, calls, etc before camp even starts. I think that part hasn't been brought up enough. Really smart move by Poles/Eberlus/Getsy IMO.
  14. I agree with this take. There's little difference in variance anyway, so go all in with it. I will concede that it's nice that the higher seed gets all 3 home games, even if that's really just a result of needing to avoid travel days to cram the games in. I'm the board's resident hater of the 1 game playoff so I love this. Even if the variance doesn't change much, I still like the idea of feeling like you are actually in the playoffs even if you lose. I keep forgetting the 2018 Cubs were technically in the playoffs because it really didn't feel like it. Give me a 3 game series and I'm happy. Sure for all games where the Cubs aren't involved, the 1 game playoff is fun to watch but also feels crappy for the fans. It took the Pirates like 20 years to get their crap together and make the playoffs. Built a nice young core and all they got to show for it is 1 real playoff series before it was dismantled. Just think 162 games of success leading to 1 playoff game is such a bummer for those teams. But I know I'm in the minority here. I loved the play in games just because we got this and this
  15. Gonna be tough to be more accelerated than that. Don't have the cap space or the team is not quite good/deep enough to make a play at SB this year IMO unless Fields step up big time. If Fields show that he's the guy, then it's going to be accelerated for 2023 with a very healthy cap space and all the picks. That gives you 3 years, not 2 since you're accepting the 5th year option, on his rookie contract to capitalize. Again, if he's the guy, then you're keeping him beyond that and figure out the cap at that point on how to make Bears a contender every year.
  16. Thanks raw. Yeah I know it won't stay that high, but you can see what Poles is looking at when he traded Mack and trying to build around Fields for the next few years. Knowing that, I feel the Bears def need to go after a top OL (regardless of position really) and Kirk as your slot WR as your "big" signings this offseason and build as much depth as possible with whatever cap space is left. You could probably fit Cooper or Godwin for WR, but I really like Kirk in the slot and draft a WR to develop for the outside with Mooney.
  17. Can't find it at the moment, but saw somewhere that now Bears have traded Mack, they have $121 million cap space for 2023 offseason!!! Pretty insane to think about. I knew that they would have a bunch of cap space, but I was thinking more like 70 mil. Granted, Bears probably will need to sign like 35 guys that offseason. Hopefully some big name FAs will be available for them to go after so that's something to look forward to.
  18. Without a doubt your Hoosiers should be in unfortunately, I believe they're going to be obliterated by Iowa. They won't have the luxury of facing another inconsistent mistake prone team like they did in Michigan and Illinois, those piss yellow squawkeyes are playing really well. He's an A&M fan. They should get in IMO. Beating Auburn should be weighed heavily at this point of the season. The question becomes is Michigan still in or do they need to start worry about not making it now?
  19. This Mack move also helps with the whole Roquan extension next year if Poles goes that route. That being said, Bears should trade Quinn, cut Goldman (unless you can get a late round pick)/Trev/whoever else that'll give us decent savings. Go in on a LT and Cooper/Godwin/Kirk. Fill out the defense with 2nd/3rd wave FAs and post june cuts. Would be set up for the draft nicely where you can let it come to you instead of trying to make something happen.
  20. Watch GB draft a QB in 2023 after they let Love go and Rodgers will bitch again and ask for more $$.
  21. Welp... Another season of Painter having Purdue in the driver seat for a B1G title and yet, another title slips through his hands. I don't know what it is with him or how to evaluate him. He racks up wins during the seasons and win a non conference tourney here and there, but when it comes to the big games, B1G tourneys, NCAA tourneys, etc., dude just can't close it out more often with a record like he has. Is it a coaching or players problem? Just luck? Or is it just normal even for a coach who wins as much as he does? I'm not saying fire him because who would you replace him with as whoever you bring in most likely won't be as successful as he is? Just sucks to be anyone who's a die hard Purdue fans like my family and friends around here right now after tonight and MSU game last Sat.
  22. Correct me if I'm wrong here, but didn't Loria/Samson cry poor and say they were losing $$ for years? That's how they were handed a stadium for basically free. Then Loria decided to sell the team for an insane amount and when it came to showing the books on the team in the process of selling the team, they actually made a profit every single year? And it was like 40 million profit. For some reason, I remember there were ppl being pissed at the time in Miami when that all when that all happened. Did I remember it right how it went down??
  23. To raw/Wrigley, what will Levi Wallace get in FA? You guys been talking about FA and who to target. He's someone who I was thinking of who Bears should go after at CB this offseason. Just not sure if he would be in that 5-7 mil range as I don't keep up with the projections and all that for free agents.
  24. He doesn't have enough IMO to be in the HOF. The 3 WS rings and the postseason #s are great, but that's about it for him. You could say 200 wins in this era is a plus. No CYA although got 2nd once. Only led league in wins, win %, hits allowed, and k/9. He did each of those just once. Had he been a rookie in 04 instead of 06 and was on the Red Sox team that broke the drought as well as the Cubs, then there might be something for him to get in. I see other pitchers more deserving IMO than Lester: Clemens, Pettitte, Sabathia, Verlander, Grienke, Schilling, Scherzer, Kershaw If you let Lester in, then what about these guys??? Colon, Dennis Martinez, Wells, Tim Hudson, Buehrle, Hershiser, Cone, Gooden, Wainwright, Hamels, Oswalt, David Price, Felix Hernandez, Johan Santana. I know most of you will say was some of them aren't in the same era so they couldn't be compared to Lester, but if you let him in, then you bring guys who were Lester's caliber in their eras that could be brought up by Vets committee which is why I mentioned those names. Maybe the older guys can't be brought up anymore as I don't know the rules with the Vets committee voting. Also, I'm not saying these guys should get in or they're better than Lester for the HOF. Just wanted to throw out a list of pitchers who you could argue that they should be in the conversation for HOF if you're thinking of putting Lester in. This isn't counting guys like Bumgarner, Cole, Sale, Strasburg, Darvish, DeGrom, etc. who aren't done with their career who will probably be in one of those 2 groups above.
  25. Been almost 2 months now. Jokic got that 1 game suspension and Morris still hasn't come back yet. Sucks that it kept him out so long and ended up being serious, but hopefully he learned his lesson from all of this...
