This is not a specific response to any one poster, but I think it is germane to the discussion in this thread: Which of the free agents listed below would posters like to see the Cubs target this offseason? Apologies if this is being discussed elsewhere.
THey used to do this in Peoria, as well (when the Chiefs were the Cubs affiliate, of course). I imagine they do it throughout the system; David's remark may be much less facetious than it seems.
If he maintains his current rates, Rizzo would end the season with about 22 HR, 46 doubles, and 76 BB. Those aren't eye popping numbers, but I think they're acceptable for a 23 YO playing his first full season in MLB.
I don't think it's unreasonable to expect that Javy will better acclimate to this level of pitching and his K% will stabilize in the 20's. I realize he's a few games worth of PA over the statistical stabilization threshold for K rate; I guess I'm willing to cut him a little slack as it seems clear he is actively refining his plate approach (age level, etc.).
