  1. I hope you understand that I love you for these.
  2. I agree; his continued presence the 4-spot is baffling. Not that it's news to anyone here, but among qualifying Cubs hitters, Castro ranks as follows: wOBA: Last (.278) BB%: Last (3.7%) LD%: Last (16.4%) GB%: First (60.3%) Soft%: First (24%) He might be the least well-suited position player to bat in that spot. Move him down until he gets right.
  3. Yes to delicious birds. No to primates.
  4. Hell [expletive] yes!
  5. I expect that he'll wallow in mediocrity for most of this season, torpedo his FA value in the process, sign a very team-friendly extension with the cardinals, and then put up several consecutive 5 war seasons.
  6. His memories of that period may be a little fuzzy.

  8. I don't know if chinese food is still a thing around here, but I would like to point out that I started frying some tofu with runners on first and third in the top of the 12th inning.
  9. The boy and I just got home. What a great game. Go Cubs!
  10. This will be my kid's first Cubs game. Let's get the sweep.
  11. Is there a joke I'm missing?
  12. If the cards are tipping pitches, how have they won 20 games? Am I misunderstanding the question?
  13. If he turns a few DPs for every one he hits into, I'm cool with that.
  14. You're just rubbing it in, now.
  15. I know it has been said before, but it bears restating: The PBP work of Ron Coomer is atrocious. He does this again, and again, and again: Describe the location/type of the pitch, then pause a few seconds, and then lackadaisically report the outcome. Seems like a decent color guy, but just consistently horrible PBP. Bring back Judd Sirott.
  16. Jose Oquendo?
  17. Obviously, but it's just silly at a certain point to just keep chalking it up to luck. They've got a good organization that spots and develops talent well and signs well and coaches well. They're the Packers of the MLB. I don't mean to claim that the cards are the darlings of the cosmos or something. They are an organization that seems to rarely make mistakes while often finding good fortune. Does that make the situation any less frustrating?
  18. Maybe it would be less frustrating if you just looked at them as a usually well run baseball organization instead of acting like they have some kind of baseball genie hidden in the depths of the stadium. Walt [expletive] Jocketty looked like a genius when he was running them And? He did a good job. Having a 13th round pick blossom into a generational talent had a lot to do with his success.
  19. We've been saying that since... Not me. [expletive] always seem to find a way to win. I'm more confident in the Cubs ascendence at this point than the cards decline.
  20. I think he just means we'll have better, even more playoff-ey teams over the next 5 years.
