  1. I hope he realizes he just walked Paul Bako on 4 pitches to force in a run.
  2. it'sa miracle that this game is 2-0. It should be like 4-2 Cubs.
  3. Have they said when Harden will start? Saturday in place of Marshall probably? I'd much rather have him replace Marquis, but I doubt that happens.
  4. What the hell was that? Not even close, Kosuke
  5. Take this for what it's worth..... I just spoke to my guy and he told me Hendry is close to agreeing on a deal for Ted Danson. The back up plan if it falls through? You guessed it... Frank Stallone
  6. I think Gregor Blanco needs to get one in the ribs tomorrow night for trying to break up a perfect game with a bunt.
  7. Maddux is fine for postseason insurance/fifth starter reasons Maddux is not better than any of the options we currently have for those purposes. Yeah, do we really need another 5.1, 3 ER guy?
  8. I'm assuming he meant no talent that they'd like to give up a front line pitcher for.
  9. It kind of sucks that the Sabathia stuff took away from the fact that we just took a pretty big series from the Cards on the road, and very easily could have swept.
  10. Or hitting a home run that's the difference in the game, like on Friday. Remember that one time Neifi hit a game winning grand slam in extras at St. Louis? I do. So Neifi and Kosuke are comparable now? Good to know. Of course they're not. My point is that you can't talk up how good of a player Kosuke is with a "he did this one great thing once" argument because you could make the same argument for crappy players like Neifi. But that's not what he was doing. He was responding to a post about Kosuke's recent struggles, not his overall production or skill set. Look at the original post in this set of quotes. He said nothing about "recent" struggles. He was referring to his overall performance.
  11. I thought this deserved it's own thread since it involves a lot of different guys. Every once in awhile I talk through e-mail with Jason Churchill from http://prospectinsider.com/. He's primarily a Mariners guy, but he says he has contacts with the Cubs so I ask him what's up every once in awhile. I just got this e-mail from him- There is another big name he mentioned that has been discussed here, but he asked me not to say what he told me. He's available and should come very cheap. I like that Harden is available, but it seems like a long shot since a third team would have to be involved. It would be typical for the Brewers to get C.C., the Cards to get Harden, and the Cubs settling for Joe Blanton. Edit: By the way, his mainpage has some stuff on the Cubs/Cards too, but it's mostly the same stuff that he said in the e-mail.
  12. Why would the Blue Jays give away Burnett for close to nothing? That would be a horrible deal for them. They wouldn't be giving him away for nothing. And I guess it all depends on how motivated they are to move him. Some reports are that they are trying to trade him to anyone who will give a young SS in return and the interest is lukewarm. That to me also indicates they aren't happy with Eckstein. This deal allows them to get out of that deal and get the SS they are seeking. We might have to add a better player than Veal or maybe a fourth player. The deal might not fly at all, but I think it could be possible considering the reports that have come out about the Jays unable to stir up interest in Burnett. I said close to nothing, which is what a package of Marquis/Cedeno/Veal is, relatively speaking. Marquis has negative value due to his contract. Veal is a decent filler prospect, but his AA numbers aren't so go great, Cedeno is Cedeno. When they say that want a shortstop, I assume that they want a good shortstop. Let's be honest, Cedeno has very little value.
  13. Cubs don't match up poorly with a Burnett deal. Though that could end up as a disaster in its own way I guess. He can be had for peanuts Why does everybody keep assuming that? What motivation does Toronto have to trade him if it's for "peanuts"? That doesn't make sense to me. They've pretty much come out and said they want to get rid of him and that the asking price isn't very high. They want to dump his contract. That and reports have said a Cubs deal would revolve around Ronny Cedeno, of all people. Reports meaning false speculation from unreliable sources? Come on, a deal centered around Cedeno? You don't think that trade would have been long ago if that were true?

I highly doubt that they came out and said the asking price isn't very high. Where are you getting that from? I don't doubt that he's available, but it would be completely pointless to just give him away for garbage. What is their motivation?
