  1. Hmm, what could this mystery "procedure" be? http://cache.daylife.com/imageserve/0arZfpc3l930h/340x.jpg
  2. IIRC, he's being doing fairly well as of late and also, Riot could probably use a night off. He just had a day off on Friday
  3. Didn't Theriot just get a day off? Derosa too
  4. Ankiel walkoff?
  5. Lou did it to give Z a rest after two long outings, no need to worry. Well that's the speculation but do you know for sure? I won't relax until Lou says that's the case. Nope, it's not speculation Dex, Lou just confirmed it in the post game press conference. Great little tid bit about Z hitting too: "When I ask Z to bunt he always tells me 'how can you ask a .350 hitter to bunt?'" Sweet, thanks.

  7. I just got home. What's the deal with Z? Somebody please tell me they shortened him up on purpose and he's not hurt.
  8. Yeah but think of how many we would be ahead if we had only not come out cold after the AS break. or if the braves werent completely worthless right now. we better have a decent lead by mid september, cuz the last 2 weeks has collapse written all over it. In a couple of weeks, we'll get our three games versus the worthless Braves, so I'm not too worried. But then they'll play like the Braves of the mid-90's. And why would they suddenly do that? You expecting Smoltz and Hudson to return by then and the Angels to trade them Teixeira back? Why so pessimistic? If you can't enjoy this season, there may not be any hope for you. Well to be fair, the Braves 2 best hitters (McCann and Chipper) will probably be back by the time we face them. They'll still suck, but not nearly as bad as they suck right now. The lineup they're using right now doesn't have a hitter with an OPS over like .775 or something ridiculous like that.
  9. I'm more scared of Ludwick going yard than I am of Pujols. Pretty funny.
  10. Is anybody else having a lot of problems with gameday this season? The results of the previous at-bat always disappears so you have no idea what is going on unless you look at the little red dot. Also the scoreboard thing at the top of the page always disappears for no reason.
  11. oh wise one, whom are you referring to? I'm assuming he's talking about the Angels. Their run differential is only +51, for a pyth record of 60-50. They're good, but they're not THAT good. The CUbs run differential is +131.
  12. Good. The fewer day games, the better. We're at a disadvantage playing in the afternoon all week when we're at home. Night games are more fun anyways.
  13. The Cubs better win tomorrow and Sunday because I can't imagine Atlanta winning a game this weekend.
  14. Hasn't Mussina been pretty solid since his horrible April? Looked it up: 1.23 WHIP, 3.56 ERA, but a little high on the .282 BAA, although he doesn't walk anybody. Joba and Pettitte are good, but who knows if Joba will hold up the whole year. I think they've got as good a shot as anybody with the offense they have the potential to throw out there every night. I think Mussina and Pettitte are both pitching over their heads, and both have gotten shelled recently. They should be decent enoguh, but as #2/3 starters? Also their 4/5 spots are a nightmare right now.
  15. Check out that video interview of Kenny Williams on the top of this page. He's like "center field is actually the easiest outfield position to play in terms of staying healthy. It sounds weird, but trust me, you don't have to move around as much in center." Uhhhh.....
  16. I like this trade for all 3 sides. I think Boston did pretty well, considering the circumstances and the small time frame they had to work with. It deosn't hurt them all that badly this season and def. helps them for next season. I also think the Dodgers are looking pretty good and should win that division now. This is good, because I don't want to face off against Webb/Haren in a short series.
  17. What would be the point of shutting down Hill?
  18. I wonder if this had anything to do with the trade.
  19. I've been up all night and seen it about 73 times on ESPN/ESPN2
  20. Unless they are planning on ditching Konerko and going with Thome at first, it looks like Griffey will get time in center. Yikes.
  21. I still think they miss the playoffs. Their rotation after Joba and Pettitte is extremely questionable. The Red Sox don't really look that great either though, so who knows.
  22. I'm surprised that no teams have been mentioned to be interested in Aubrey Huff. He's suddenly good again (.302/.359/.554 - 22 bombs)
  23. I made the comparison between the 2008 Brewers and 2004 Cubs about a month ago. Both teams had a crappy bullpen, crappy defense, and both teams relied on an all or nothing home run offense. Watching the Brewers flail at every pitch within 10 feet on the plate all week reminds me so much of the 2004 Cubs offense. Ultimately, the bullpen and offense ended up costing the 2004 team.
