  1. So Marshall will probably start on Sunday then?
  2. Makes up for the fact that they were quite lucky last season. This is no different than last year. Hudson pretty much missed the end of last season and the playoffs, too. yeah, but last year they had Mr. career year Byrnes I still find it hilarious that they gave away Carlos Quentin so they could extend Byrnes. Whoops. Don't feel too bad, they did steal Chris Young away from CWS.... Plus the prospect they got from CWS for Carlos Quentin (Chris Carter) was packaged to Oakland in the Dan Haren trade. So there's no whoops....it worked out very well for the D'backs. Chris Young really isn't very good, and I find it hard to believe that the D-Backs couldn't have gotten Haren if they didn't have Carter. I think Josh Byrnes is a pretty good GM, but the Quention trade was a big time screw up, no doubt about it. Besides, what if Quinton was hitting .230 with 10 homeruns and 40 rbis? So essentially, the Backs traded Carlos Quinton for Dan Haren (via a third trade), and in my book that's a good trade. Haha, what? I don't even know what you're trying to say. That makes no sense at all. The guy they got for Quentin was a very small part of the Haren trade, so it's not like they traded Quention for Haren at all, not even close. That's like trading Soto for Nick Masset, trading Masset/Vitters/Pie/Veal/Ceda for Adam Dunn, and then saying "Oh, well we basically traded Soto for Adam Dunn, so that wasn't a bad trade" (Keep in mind I'm not actually comparing Nick Masset to Chris Carter). Also, it's not like Quentin came out of nowhere. He was a top prospect who put up monster numbers at every level and was only 24. It might be surprising that he's gotten this good this fast, but it shouldn't shock anyone that he's a really good player. There is no way around it, that was a terrible trade.

  4. Question... who is more overrated: Chris Young the pitcher, or Chris Young the hitter?
  5. I don't think anybody is disagreeing with that. The point is that he's unlikely to keep getting outs and minimizing the damage with the way he's pitching. He's been good, but he's also been getting really lucky. Eventually guys are going to start cashing those runners in. It's amazing that he's been able to keep his ERA this low for so long with such crappy peripherals.
  6. I would have probably gone with Sabathia/Sheets if C.C. didn't completely mail it in last postseason. Instead I went with Webb/Haren, and that is exactly why I am rooting for the Dodgers to win the West. Oh, and why is Lackey not in the Angels top 2?
  7. If he's out for a while I wonder if they'll decide not to put Wainwright back in the pen.
  8. I think the seasons from Dempster and Edmonds are way more improbable than the seasons guys like Ludwick and Lohse are having.
  9. We all know how the Cards tend to get career/flukey seasons out of guys, but do we really have any room to complain about that this season? I mean, consider some of the numbers we're getting from some extremely unexpected sources. Ryan Dempster- 13-5, 2.92, 1.16 (!?!), 139/62 Ryan Theriot- .314/.390/.372 Jim effing Edmonds- .273/.374/.597 You could also mention guys like Fontenot and Samardzija. I mean, can you believe the numbers we're getting out of those first 3 guys? How improbable is that? Jim Edmonds OPSing nearly 1.000 in a good chunk of at-bats? Dempster having a Cy Young type season? Ryan Theriot being the toughest out on the team? What is happening?

  11. For the love of... I have never seen this board put on blinders the way it has with Fukudome. He's not "just in a slump." HE'S JUST NOT THAT GOOD. This is insane, it's like last year when the casual fan message boards wouldn't accept anything bad about Theriot. I'm sick of the excuses. Will someone please just give a date when you guys will FINALLY stop using the "Blah blah blah new country blah blah slump blah blah blah he'll figure it out" stuff, because I've heard it long enough and I'm sick of that crutch. Look, it's simple. He's like Akinori Iwamura. Neither are good producers. That's the end of it. The Cubs made a bad decision but I don't blame them, it seems like Japanese players have been overhyped ever since Ichiro. I feel sorry for the team that pays a $100 million posting fee for Darvish. Get Kosuke the hell out of the #2 spot. #7. did you read this thread, or did you just come here looking for a post like that you could rip to shreds? because if you had read the thread, you would have seen that cynosure was basically alone in proclaiming kosuke fine. why you feel the need to criticize "this board" over the posts of one guy, i have no idea. cynosure might be the only one saying it in this thread, but there def. is a large amount of people on this board that have been saying the same thing for the past couple months.
  12. Yeah it's right. So is the .182 average after a 3-1 count. He does have a .667 OBP in that spot though. He's also hitting .300 after an 0-2 count and .295/.358/.536 after a 1-2 count. He's hitting .364 with a .667 SLG in 66 AB's on the 1-2 pitch. Might have something to do with his enormous hacks on 2-0 pitches
  13. Everytime I see a post from you I see your avatar and think that kid is posting it.
  14. Gotta get this run in. I hate bunting but with Fuku up I wouldn't mind it here.
  15. Better yet rest him on Monday! Didn't Theriot foul a ball off his foot? I heard somewhere that he has a deep bruise. Lou just said that he's sitting just for rest. He's fine.
  16. Seriously, why is he resting Theriot right now? Does he not realize that this is a really important game? Why not rest him on Tuesday instead? Stupid.
  17. Cedeno has made 3 outs with 2 pitches. That guy is completely worthless.
  18. Here comes the bloop 2 run single from Carp.
