  1. panic responses are a sign of a weak will and a generally pessimistic outlook on lifeIf I was a fan of another team without a dog in the fight I would find this board HILARIOUS right now. It is hilarious. I know. People need to realize we've already clinched a playoff spot and losses don't matter right now.
  2. Actually, I'm not freaking missing the point. I'm not saying it's unlikely they'll miss the playoffs, I'm saying it's damn near impossible. You're saying it's realistic that it could happen. Of course, things with a 1% chance of happening can happen, the Bulls (supposedly) had a 1.7% chance of getting the #1 pick. But they're also damn rare BY DEFINITION. Answer my question. If the Cubs had a 1% chance to make the playoffs, would you consider the playoffs a realistic possibility? Why the hell would you worry about some insanely unlikely possibility like that? Why would I worry about it? Are you serious? I'm sorry but you're an idiot for thinking we've clinched anything. Can you find the Mets playoff odds when they had a 7.5 game lead in mid September last year? I'm sure Mets fans were saying the same thing over and over all September. The truth is we just had an 11 game cushion above the last wild card spot and it's probably going to be down to 8 after tonight. So if 3 games can dissapear that quickly, the remaining 8 games could start to vanish quickly as well. STOP ACTING AS THOUGH WE'VE CLINCHED ANYTHING. WE ARE CUBS FANS. LOL wow....so you're admitting that you're being ridiculously irrational because you're a Cubs fan, I guess. You still haven't answered my question. What question? I've already said that I'm not really worried about missing the playoffs, I just can't stand how you act as though it's impossible and nothing like that has ever happened in baseball. Stuff like that happens all the time, yet you completely shrug off the possibility.
  3. A pretty good example of how everyone is pressing and trying to hit 8 run home runs every time up.
  4. You can take solace in the fact that we clinched a playoff spot.
  5. Guys, stop complaining about this game. Don't you know that it doesn't matter? We've clinched the playoffs.

  7. David says we're okay because of run differential and stuff like that, so it must be true. We aren't allowed to be realistic, unless we're saying the Cubs are gods and couldn't possibly miss the playoffs. Dude, what the hell are you talking about.. First, that last part. You think it's realistic to think the Cubs could miss the playoffs at this point? That's more like the wild card runner up's wet dream and not even close to being close to being likely. But hey, keep spouting off irrational nonsense out of frustration. I already said that what IS worth worrying about is Zambrano. Dempster is a possible concern, but it's not like he's getting lit up. Harden - take it however you want. I'll worry about it when I see something to worry about beyond Lou saying he's got discomfort. The organization told us right when we got him that they were going to do something like this with him at some point. But yea, I'm the one being unrealistic. How can you say it's not a realistic possibilty that the Cubs miss the playoffs? It's highly unlikely, but MUCH crazier things have happened than a team blowing an 8 game lead at the beginning of September. The Mets blew that in about 2 weeks last season, so I don't think it's smart to say "oh well, we've got the playoffs clinched" when that is not at all true. Do I think we miss the playoffs? Of course not, but it's not at all impossible. a less than 1% chance is not realistic... If the Cubs had a 1% chance of making the playoffs right now, would you think it was realistic to think they'd make the playoffs? Didn't think so. Wow... I can't believe they got him.. In fact I'm not sure they did You're missing the point. Nobody is saying it's likely that they miss the playoffs. The thing is, you keep shrugging off the possibility like there is no chance at it happening. "Oh calm down, there's only a one percent chance! That would never happen". Stop acting like it can't happen. What were the chances of the Mets missing the playoffs in mid September last season?
  8. So we finally get a hit with RISP and the moron 3rd base coach ruins it again. Quade has been as bad as Wendall these past couple of months.

  10. I'm not able to watch the game. Just by listening to Pat and Ron it doesn't sound like he's pitching that poorly, but is he hanging a lot of stuff? His stuff is noticeably worse than it has been. FWIW, Joshi, I haven't noticed anything of the sort.. I've seen him pitching in the low-mid 90s consistenly and getting the movement we've seen from him all year. Thanks. I just don't see how this could be considered a "crappy" start unless Dempster looked worse than what I was hearing. 3 runs in 5 innings is a crappy start
  11. Yeah, sure. We all love the Cubs sucking, that's why we're complainging about it.
  12. If you can't handle people saying they suck right now (which they DO, and if you don't see it, open your eyes) this probably isn't the place for you anyway. actually, i think i just need to start useing the ignore feature You came here during a 5 game losing streak and a possible serious injury to Zambrano. What did you expect? It's called venting. Nobody is forcing you to read it.
  13. David says we're okay because of run differential and stuff like that, so it must be true. We aren't allowed to be realistic, unless we're saying the Cubs are gods and couldn't possibly miss the playoffs.
  14. Again, when you give up hits to Michael Bourn, you deserve to get runs scored against you
  15. Back to back crappy starts for Dempster.
  16. What is? The fact that the clutch hitting has been terrible for over a week now. I don't really believe in clutch, but I believe in anti-clutch when a team is pressing and not handling the pressure well. It has? Love the exaggeration. Even if we were talking about clutch hitting, there were clutch hits last night, there was a clutch hit in the 2nd Philly game.. there was obviously clutch hitting in the first Philly game.... Perception >>> reality, I guess I'd be willing to bet that their numbers w/RISP have been pretty bad over the last week or so.
  17. Uh oh...it's David Newhan. Be careful here!!

  19. What does "meep meep" mean? Isn't that the noise one of the muppets makes?
  20. Ryan Zimmerman is playing against me in the playoffs of one of my money leagues and he's pissing me off.......acting like he's good and what not.
  21. God everytime I see Hunter Pence it makes me mad. Does he not realize how stupid he looks with everything he does? Meep meep
