huh? Why are we rooting against milwaukee in the DS anyway? I know it's a long shot, but a healthy trio of Sabathia/Sheets/Gallardo is still very scary

Well it looks the Brewers will win the WC, but hopefully Philly can at least stay alive until Sunday so Milwaukee is forced to use Sabathia and won't have him for game one of the DS.

Lou said Howry already made it, which we all knew ould happen. He's going to be the 7th inning guy. So Lou doesn't want to hold close leads in the late innings? Interesting. I hate Howry as much as the next guy, but looking at the pen lately, is he really any worse than the rest of these disasters? Yes

Not only that, but I don't want the Brewers in the playoffs. What if Sheets actually comes back healthy? Then all of a sudden they've got Sabathia/Sheets/Gallardo Don't worry so much. We're in. We've got our shot for this year. Probably the best shot of any team in baseball. I have to tell myself that crap, too. But yea, just enjoy it at this point. And do a lot of this :beg: I can handle losing, because the odds are still heavily against us winning the World Series. Something I would not be able to handle would be getting kocked out by the brewers.

And like half of those guys won't even be playing next week. Come on, man. None of this matters. I MIGHT grant you that the playoff opponent thing matters (albeit not as much as people think), but how we "look" tonight means absolutely nothing. Jesus. I never said anything about those guys doing that stuff in the playoffs. I'm just saying tonight has been an embarassing night on a Friday night ESPN game.

Wow I know we've already clinched but this game has been an embarassment. Hoffpauir turns a routine out into a double Hoffpauir makes a terrible baserunning mistake Edmonds (or Theriot) misses a sign Catcher's interference on a RP batting Balk to advance said fat reliever Soriano with multiple screwups Ugly. I don't care if we've already clinched, it's not good to be going into the playoffs playing dumb baseball

The people who are acting like the result of this game has any bearing on the Cubs are very foolish. Let's see, we could face the red hot Dodgers who have the best pitching in the league, a top offense since getting Manny, and have plenty of time to set their rotation and rest or We could play the Mets, their disastrous bullpen (which will probably be even more destroyed with a likely DH on Sunday and potential Monday game), a questionable rotation, and no Santana in game 1 Yeah, no difference. The best pitching of the league? Right. The most overrated pitching in the league, sure. The Dodgers have spent the last month playing nobody. Two weeks ago, people were begging for the Dodgers to pass the D-backs to play them, and now we're afraid of them? Please. The Dodgers are six games over .500. They are the worst team in the playoffs. The fact is there's no way to know what matchup really will be better for us and it's a best of 5 crapshoot that we'll be favored in no matter who we play. The Mets just aren't going to roll over for us if we draw them. Would I rather face them? Probably, but it really doesn't matter all that much. I think it matters a lot. I think the Dodgers are leaps and bounds better than the Mets in pretty much every area. Also Furcal is back. They have a top offense and the best pitching in the league. The Mets have a good lineup and that's it.
