  1. I bet the plan is to use Marmol tonight and then again Sunday.
  2. Lou said Howry already made it, which we all knew ould happen. He's going to be the 7th inning guy.
  3. Not only that, but I don't want the Brewers in the playoffs. What if Sheets actually comes back healthy? Then all of a sudden they've got Sabathia/Sheets/Gallardo
  4. After Wood and Marmol our bullpen is a mess
  5. Wow I know we've already clinched but this game has been an embarassment. Hoffpauir turns a routine out into a double Hoffpauir makes a terrible baserunning mistake Edmonds (or Theriot) misses a sign Catcher's interference on a RP batting Balk to advance said fat reliever Soriano with multiple screwups Ugly. I don't care if we've already clinched, it's not good to be going into the playoffs playing dumb baseball
  6. The people who are acting like the result of this game has any bearing on the Cubs are very foolish. Let's see, we could face the red hot Dodgers who have the best pitching in the league, a top offense since getting Manny, and have plenty of time to set their rotation and rest or We could play the Mets, their disastrous bullpen (which will probably be even more destroyed with a likely DH on Sunday and potential Monday game), a questionable rotation, and no Santana in game 1 Yeah, no difference. The best pitching of the league? Right. The most overrated pitching in the league, sure. The Dodgers have spent the last month playing nobody. Two weeks ago, people were begging for the Dodgers to pass the D-backs to play them, and now we're afraid of them? Please. The Dodgers are six games over .500. They are the worst team in the playoffs. Saying that they have the best pitching in the league wasn't an opinion, it was a fact. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/stats/aggregate?sort=ERA&split=0&group=8&season=2008&seasonType=2&statType=pitching&type=reg http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/stats/aggregate?sort=WHIP&split=0&group=8&season=2008&seasonType=2&statType=pitching&type=exp2 So having the best ERA and best WHIP in the league doesn't mean they have the best pitching? Interesting.
  7. The fact is there's no way to know what matchup really will be better for us and it's a best of 5 crapshoot that we'll be favored in no matter who we play. The Mets just aren't going to roll over for us if we draw them. Would I rather face them? Probably, but it really doesn't matter all that much. I think it matters a lot. I think the Dodgers are leaps and bounds better than the Mets in pretty much every area. Also Furcal is back. They have a top offense and the best pitching in the league. The Mets have a good lineup and that's it.

  9. The people who are acting like the result of this game has no impact on the Cubs are very foolish.
  10. Soriano had no chance at that ball, but it's far from a pointless game
  11. It can't be. Based on his little "talk" with Howry I think it's pretty clear. Who else does Lou have confidence in?
  12. It's scary that Howry will probably be Lou's first choice after Marmol/Wood
  13. That had nothing to do with avoiding injury, he just flat out blew it.
  14. Screwup number 3 tonight for Soriano. I can't wait until that happens next week.
  15. Not Edmonds' fault. That was a hit & run all the way.
  16. If baserunning blunders was the end all to making a playoffs, then Ryan Theriot shouldn't be on the roster. Hoffpauir pulled a brain fart, but I still prefer him over Ward in the playoffs. There were also the 2 screwups in the outfield. I'm not saying I want Ward, I'm just saying I think that's who Lou will choose.
  17. Well that and smart pitching/taking advantage of the Cubs. When he was getting hammered early the announcers were talking about how he couldn't keep challenging the hitters and would have to try to get guys to chase pitches out of the zone. That's what he started doing in the 3rd inning and he got 4 straight outs on Soriano/Lee/Ramirez/Hoffpauir on K's out of the zone. That's what he's been doing since and the Cubs keep chasing.
  18. I think tonight is killing any chance Hoffpauir had of making the playoff roster.
  19. Indians take the lead and are still in business. Danks completely falling apart
  20. I don't find it amusing. I DO NOT want brewers in over mets. Philly Mets Brewers LA CC's workload Sheets Elbow Bullpen Defense In a 7 games series that team doesn't scare me at all. Santana/Pedro is a pretty tough combo in a short series in OCT. Are you unaware that Pedro is terrible? Yes but so is Suppan and you see how thats working for us. Huh? That makes no sense. So we should avoid terrible pitchers because we have 1 run off Suppan tonight? I thought someone was saying we shouldnt be scared of Pedro cause he's not great. Im just saying this offense has a habit of making mediocre pitching look really good so who cares what the matchups look like. lolol are you for real right now? So the pitching matchups are irrelevant in the postseason because sometimes we don't score against crappy pitchers? Wow.
  21. Dempster needs to not allow another run for his season ERA to end up under 3.

  23. Okay this casual play is officially pissing me off. I hope they don't regret it when Manny hits 5 home runs against us next week.
