  1. According to the reports, Harden wasn't the same pitcher right when he got him (in July). This is Rich Harden. His velocity varies from start to start. He's generally very good either way. Really? I've never heard that his velocity varies from start to start... No, he's right. I've heard that several times from several places.... including Rich himself. He's a weird specimen
  2. But still much better than any other NL team's rotation. Agreed. But then you factor in the fact that we have no idea which Z we are getting... I'm actually not that concerned with Z. His stuff looked really good last night, the ump just got in his head. I think he's going to prove that he is a big game pitcher.
  3. But still much better than any other NL team's rotation.
  4. I didn't like that argument to begin with, but that inning shouldn't really change anything. It's not like he was getting hammered. He walked a couple of guys (which he's going to do no matter how healthy he is) and then gave up one hit.
  5. Why do you keep touting his experience when I just showed you that the only experience he has is in sucking? I don't get that. "Hey, I know you've been a terrible pinch hitter your entire career, but at least you know how to suck. You're in"
  6. I mean I'm not getting pissed or anything, it's nothing hostile. I'm just talking about baseball
  7. If Ward's experience is so crucial, then why has he sucked ass all season? I tend to look at his body of work as a pinch hitter, not one bad year. So the fact that he blows right now is meaningless because he's been good in previous years? Look, I like Ward but he has been terrible this season. You can't just expect him to suddenly stop sucking because it's the playoffs and he has "experience" (only 11 postseason AB's BTW). You have to go with who gives you a better chance to win and that's Hoffpauir. By the way, I think you're under the impression that Ward's track record is a lot more glorious than it really is. .234/.330/.385 (.715) That is Ward's career line as a PH. Seriously, look it up. Those are some ugly numbers.

  9. Who would have thought 6 months ago that we'd be having this conversation right now? We have Harden and Zambrano, and Dempster seems to be the unanimous choice for game 1 (and rightfully so). Just a weird ass season.
  10. Really? You guarantee it? Ward does not deserve a playoff spot over Hoffpauir... and I don't even like Hoffpauir that much.
  11. But even in those starts it wasn't this low. He hasn't even hit 90 yet and we're through 2 innings. If he had at least hit 92 a couple times I'd feel better.
  12. Well yeah, but that's the point and that's why there is concern.
  13. There's a big difference between "letting it all hang out" and throwing 10 MPH less than what you usually throw. From the guy who is waiting for his arm to fall off. Thanks Mr. Doom and Gloom. Whatever dude, if you're saying you aren't at least a little concerned about the lack of velocity then you're in denial. Talk to me after the first inning of his playoff start, then we will see who is right...This game is meaningless, seriously. Of course this game is meaningless, but Harden's velocity is far from meaningless. Seriously, it's hist first start before the playoffs, his velocity is way down so far, and we aren't allowed to voice concerns? Get outta here.

  16. oh you are really going to piss off dextermorgan when he reads this howry me
  17. Zambrano's line is pretty decieiving. He really didn't look that bad. Velocity was good, movement was good, and the location actually wasn't terrible. He was just barely missing and was not getting help from an atrocious umpire. He could very easily have only given up 1 or no runs.
  18. Uh oh...Sutcliffe talking about the grit
  19. I love how Lou walks Endy Chavez and then goes after David Wright
  20. I only hate baseball when it bangs my girlfriend. Then I'm all "Hey baseball, WTF man?". And he's all "whatever man".
