Sounds to me like Depodesta is the one blowing smoke...up the behind of everyone who listened to the interview. If that were true, then how does he explain the "the train has left the station" quotes from Towers earlier in the season. Also, why were they so close to trades with multiple teams?

Weren't the Padres emphatic about getting a pitching heavy deal though.. or was that just if it was with the Cubs? Either way, we shouldn't really be putting much, if any, stock into what that guy said. I've never even heard of him and he was clearly way off with the first package he mentioned with the Cubs.

You're overreacting. They're in a small slump. Did you expect them to dominate all season? If this is our worst stretch of the season then you can't complain. It's not like they've completely fallen apart. They're 5-4-1 in their last 10. Before they lost these last 2 in a row, they had gotten 7 out of 8 possible points in the 4 previous games. So you're saying the 24-19-5 Coyotes and 24-19-3 Oilers are better than the 25-12-8 Hawks?

Except last year when they were about 80 games behind us. i don't remember that. i remember us winning an obscene amount of games and them still being within shouting distance most of the year. they were still a threat last year. luckily we had a ridiculous season and didn't have to sweat it out until the end. if they won 86 games with the roster they had last year and a ridiculous amount of blown games by the bullpen, then you'd be dumb to ever write them off before a season. I wrote them off last year before the season. I was not dumb to do so. Yes it was, unless you also predicted the Cubs would win 97 games. If you predicted 85-90 wins like most people were, then it was dumb to write them off, since they were right there. Writing a team off implies that they're going to suck. 86-76 is far from suck

What did Karros do? I don't remember that Similar thing, took a full page ad out in the Trib, thanking Cubs fans for a great year and said what an honor it was to be a Cub, how much he enjoyed it, etc. A whole page? I like how you make a point to trash/reply to me in every single thread, even if it has nothing to do with the topic. Either read this thread, or don't post. It's pretty simple. Never said people would defend that it's 5. I said people would criticize me for just trying to start an argument by saying it's 4, just like you're taking shots at me right now. Just like you take shots at people in every one of your posts, just like the thread right under this one. You're very mad.

This thread was chosen because he saw you post in it and it's where you said your PMs didn't work. More than one mod noticed that there was an excess of pointless arguing(accomplishing nothing, cluttering up several threads, and toeing the line of personal attacks from both parties) that spans several pages in multiple threads, and you were a common denominator in most of them. Though it applies to anyone, if you find yourself 8-10 posts deep in an argument/discussion, it's a good idea to step back and see if you're actually still discussing the topic at hand and not just bickering tangent after tangent that doesn't do any good. No I agree, he should have just pointed it out in a thread that it was actually relevant. I also don'tl ike thatcubbieallthewayguy condemning me for other threads when I never did anything wrong in the thread he trashed me for it. He used it as a copout what the hell are you talking about? i replied to someone else effectively saying "i agree". shouldn't your issue be with the other person? so stupid. maybe the internet isn't for you. I can count at least 2 broken rules in the following post, but thanks for caring. I always know I can count on you, IMB. yeah and you conveniently leave out that this was a response to a guy who came in the thread out of nowhere and started insulting me for no reason.

I disagree with bigbadb all the time and when i used a naughty word he saw it as an opportunity to scold me. i didn't know that this message board was rated g. oh well. i just think how it's funny that the post that was the last straw for him was "pie was never given a chance to adjust".
