  1. I don't think it's tired, because it comes up every time Huet plays poorly and Khabi plays well. Which happens all the time! Then why are their numbers so very similar? Didn't you just say this? lolololololool
  2. I don't see anyone here aruging who is better
  3. I would rather see them play Niemi here tomorrow night My point exactly I would rather see them play Niemi here tomorrow night because he is more likely to be able to handle the Blues and if Huet is going to play one of the two nights it should be against the better team on Saturday night. Nice try though. I thought they played Sunday. My fault
  4. That completely depends on how healthy he is. If he plays half of each season, is that still a great deal?
  5. Winning 2 divisions doesn't make a guy exempt from criticism though, especially when the first one of those was an 85 win team that only snuck into the playoffs because of an awful division. It kind of goes along when people said we couldn't criticize Dusty because "he's a 3 time MOY and you guys are just kids on the internet".... or saying we can't criticize George Bush because he's the president and we're not. Plus Hendry has had a ton of resources to work with. I don't see how anything he's done has earned him the right to be exempt from criticism on individual moves.
  6. All I've read is that Bradley's option is tied to his health, and that he could still miss a significant amount of time(i.e. nothing about 2010 impacts the 2011 option) and still vest his 2011 money. I think it's Cubs option if he plays less than 250 games in the first two years. I'll try to find the exact number. But seriously, aren't these constant complaints about every late signings pat the point of ridiculous already? Oh well. Just ignore it I guess. This stuff usually happens late in the offseason when there is nothing to talk about. Oh, and where did you see the 250 games thing? I haven't heard anything about that.
  7. I read that he only has to spend less than 75 days on the DL in 2009 to guarantee the entire 30. I have no idea if that's true since I never saw it anywhere else, but if it's true that means he can go down with a season ending injury in July and still get the entire 30 million.
  8. I would rather see them play Niemi here tomorrow night My point exactly
  9. This is a couple months old but I don't think it's been posted here. Just another reason Marty is a joke
  10. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3899481 well at least you can tell he's actually remorseful, the crying didn't seem fake..... unlike the arod interview where alex came off as a complete phony (different situations, i know.... but still)
  11. This cracked me up. Rob Neyer completely called out Jon Heyman Umm, no he's not. A solid defensive right fielder, I mean. Over the last three seasons, his average Ultimate Zone Rating was minus-12, which is hardly solid. Last year alone it was minus-26, which is simply dreadful. Maybe that number was anomalous. But probably not. He's probably just a really, really bad outfielder at this point in his career. Which is mostly why nobody wanted to pay him anything like the $16 million he made last year. I do think he could be a pretty solid deal at $5 million, depending on the incentives and how often the Angels are able to slot him as their DH. But $5 million at this point in Abreu's career is not obviously a great bargain for the Angels; if he plays this year like he did last year, that's just about what he's worth. Funny how that worked out. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/blog/index?entryID=3899973&name=Neyer_Rob
  12. I don't think it would be about that. From the articles that came out a couple weeks ago on those business websites, it sounds like he just can't afford it Well that's what I meant. Why would he buy the Cubs if he couldn't maintain the team as it is. He saw the books, he knows the Cubs have a large payroll and several long term contracts to deal with. Well nobody said anything about reducing payroll. We're talking about adding more big contracts Right now we are. If Rich Harden pitches awesome this year and the economy is still in the crapper, does the new owner resign him or replace his salary? That's the stuff that worries me

  14. I'd try to fit Sharp in there for the roofer, but no doubt Khabi was #1. What more needs to happen for Q to come off this rotation business? If I have to watch Huet flail around Friday night, I'm going to be one unhappy human. It's fine to want Khabi to start every game, but you need to stop acting like Huet sucks Well... he doesn't suck... but he sure hasn't shown his true colors this year I don't know what that means, but he has above average numbers Huet is not a great goalie. He pisses me off a lot too, especially when he tried to play the puck. I just don't understand why everyone here trashes him non-stop. Big contract or not, he's an above average goalie. I vehemently agree with you... he is an "above average goalie"... but with two goalies with an enormous contract... the better goalie at the time (Khabi) is going to get the love and the one who isn't as good/consistent (Huet) is going to get the hate. I think us, as knowledgeable Hawks fans hate the contract more than the person. We see Huet making money we could have spent elsewhere. EDIT: And I guess I should admit I was incredibly excited about the Huet signing at first, because I figured he was taking OVER for Khabby, not "platooning" with him. Like I said, I have no problem with people wanting Khabi to start every day and I can live with people being pissed about Huet's contract. I just don't understand why people still acting like he's gabage even though the numbers prove that to be false.

  16. Do you have anything conrete on this supposed shoulder tear? It's weird that after the article came out, we've heard basically nothing about it. I read some article a couple weeks ago that suggested he might not be ready for opening day, but I remember the source being questionable. So what's the deal? Is he going to be ready for opening day, barring a different injury?

  18. I don't think it would be about that. From the articles that came out a couple weeks ago on those business websites, it sounds like he just can't afford it Then why spend 3/4 of your family net worth on a baseball team? Here's one of the articles I was talking about...
