uh did they start using the DH in the NL when I wasn't looking? Wasn't Quentin traded because they had too many OF's and corner infielders? You don't give away an elite prospect because you can't fit him into a mix of unspecial players. That's silly. They traded him so they could give a long term deal to Eric Byrnes. Real smart.

I'm most worried about the fact that he mentioned Miles over Fontenot.

I'm wondering, is this sarcasm? I'm not sure I've ever heard the words endurance and Marshall in the same sentence. His lack of endurance is the main issue that may keep him out of the rotation. Using someone with Marshall's talent as a loogy would be really stupid. If that's what you meant then I agree. Though even if he doesn't win the 5th spot out of ST I'd bet Marshall starts 10-15 games for the Cubs over the course of the season. Je never said he had the endurance to be in the rotation for a full season. He said he has too much enurance to be wasted as a one out guy, which is true. If he can pitch like 100+ innings between the bullpen and rotation like he did in 2007, that's much better than being wasted for one out. He might not have enough enough endurance to be a starter for a full season, but he still has more endruance than an average reliever, and especially a loogy.

Bedard doesn't really have a bad contract though. He has one year and like 7 million.

He would either be a very expensive 4th OF or would be traded for another bad contract. Today's Tribune mentioned that teams approached Hendry about Fukudome, but Hendry isn't ready to give up on him yet. Seattle was mentioned as shopping Jarrod Washburn, Erik Bedard, and Kenji Johjima as examples of the kind of bad contracts Hendry might have to take on. Bedard wasn't mentioned as a bad contract (he doesn't have one) that they'd trade for Kosuke.....he was just mentioned as a guy the Mariners have been trying to trade this offseason.

Marte's situation isn't even remotely close to the situations of Hamilton and Quentin. Marte wasn't good in the minors. Quentin and Hamilton both raked in the minors. Quentin was never given a real chance in the majors. Hamilton was let go because of drugs. Quentin wasn't DFAd. He was just traded because Byrnes is an idiot. Quentin and Hamilton were/are legitimately good. Andy Marte sucks.

Salaries have to match in the NBA. I know they do. I'm just saying. That the Bulls should have done something that was not possible?

While I myself am not quite ready to give up on Kosuke, the thought of trading him for Bedard is quite intriguing. The guy had one bad, injury plagued year, and Id be all about him. Even if Johjima would have been involved as a backup catcher, and they then could have gotten Cedeno in the same deal. As for Washburn, Id just assume take back Traschle or Lieber, but Kosuke, Cedeno, and Olson(asuming the Pie/Olson trade happenes) for Bedard, Johjima, and Heilman doesnt sound half bad. Then, we could have re signed Edmonds for cheap and platooned him with Johnson. That article doesn't say they they would have offered Bedard. It says the Mariners were one of the teams interested in Kosuke, and then listed Bedard as one of the players they have been shopping this offseason. Also, bedard didn't have "one bad injur plagues year". He's injured just about every year and 2007 was the only time he's come even close to being that good.

You act like they traded good players or something. The only thing of value that the bulls gave up was Gooden's expiring, and the fact that they got rid of Nocioni's contract makees up for it. Poeple are going to be dissapointing because it's not an Amare trade, but it's definitely a good trade. Plus it's very 2010 friendly Over the long term it's not, I think. This might put the Bulls into the playoffs as an 8 seed only to get crushed by Lebron or Garnett. Next year.. on the other hand... With this trade, the Bulls are basically showing Gordon the door at the end of the season with Salmons coming on. Salmons' numbers are inflated because he's played about half of the season without Martin and Garcia. Brad Miller hasn't been good since 05, and that's pushing it. He's never healthy. Add on that Hughes and Hinrich will probably be gone, and the Bulls have pretty much depleted this team depth-wise going into the 2009 season (considering there aren't very many good free agents this upcoming off-season). I think gearing up to the 2010 season is foolish. Lebron is pretty much either staying in Cleveland or going to NYC (that is if he opts out). I'm not so sure Wade is going to opt out of Miami. Same goes for Stoudemire or Dirk. Portland isn't going to let Brandon Roy go as he's a restricted FA. Okay, so what is bad about this trade? I'm not saying it makes us good this year or next year, but what bad does it do? Depletes this team's depth, and overall talent. Pretty much keeps them right at the 8 seed in the Eastern Conference Playoffs or not in. Lateral move. Gooden is better than Miller. Salmons won't be better than Gordon (that is if he leaves which I think is going to happen). Simple. Gordon is leaving anyway, and Gooden is definitely not Better than Miller. I don't really see the "depletes the team's depth and overall talent" stuff is coming from. That doesn't really make any sense. Gooden and Nocioni blow. Gooden and Salmons are better, and we also get rid of Nocioni's contract. This is a lateral move at WORST. I don't see a single thing coming out of this trade that could make the team worse. I think you're just dissapointed that it's not a blockbuster trade. A trade doesn't have to be great to be good. Also I think it's unfair how you just write off the 2010 facotr, as though we have no chance at Stoudemire/Wade/Bosh/Dirk/LeBron, and pretty silly to call the idea "foolish". What makes you think those guys WON'T test free agency? Of course they will. It's foolish to think that they won't, and despite what you might believe, Chicago is still an attractive destination, especially now that Rose is here.

What do you want him to say? What could he say that could make anyone happy? This is A-Rod's mess, but the self-righteous indignation by some players, the public, and press is really annoying to me. Most everyone would do the same thing if they were in his situation. It doesn't make what he did right, it makes what he did human. There were at least 100 other guys who tested positive and probably many others who were just lucky. They should all (owners, managers, and players) get in a circle and shoot, because they are all in it together. What do I want him to say? How about the truth? Either that, or stop talking. Pretty simple. I'd rather have a guy flat out deny it than make a "confession" to try and save face, only to end up making excuse after excuse and pretend like he didn't know what he was doing was wrong. If you're going to confess, then confess.

I think we all understand that Fontenot will, at the very least, get the ABs against RHP. Lou and Hendry have said repeatedly this offseason before they traded DeRosa that they were going to try and find a way to get him more at-bats.

I was just watching a bunch of Bradley highlights on mlb.com..... I never realized how pretty his swing is from the left side, especially when he goes the opposite way (which is a lot apparently).

If everything that's being said is true, there's really nothing the Bulls can do about it. If he's off the market, he's off the market. The only way we really had/have a shot is if Sarver is demanding he be traded for financial reasons. As an actual basketball trade, a package centered with Thomas for Stoudemire sounds crappy.

God Arod is such a liar. During the interview with Gammons he kept talking about how he felt so guilty when he was using PEDs and then talked about how good it feels to finally be honest and admit he was doing something wrong. Then, today, he starts talking about how all these years he didn't know that he had done something wrong? WTF? Then whatdid you feel bad about all these years? He needs to stop talking because he's making himself look worse and worse and is only going to get into more trouble.

I think Kerr has always wanted to keep Amare. It's Sarver who was wanting to trade him. Kerr saying he'd like to keep Amare doesn't really mean anything.

Nope just be fair and actually criticize Khabi when he has a bad game as well, considering it's about as often as Huet. When Khabi has a bad night it's just an aberration, but when Huet has a bad night it's just him being awful and being exposed.
