  1. Only 4 back in the loss column
  2. What's an ace caliber starting pitcher? He's only 28 and he's got a better career ERA+ than CC Sabathia, Chris Carpenter, Ted Lilly, Danny Haren, Jake Peavey, Cliff Lee, John Lackey, Josh Beckett, Zach Greinke, and just under Roy Halladay (Doc 132, Z 127). His WHIP is better than or just over all of them too. Z's problem is that he gets demonstrably upset while in public, not that he's not a great pitcher. As per usual, the Cubs are going to trade him for cents on the dollar mostly because they don't like his antics. On top of that they're tipping their hand publicly, which more than likely lowers whatever value he would have had if it were not the case. There's a reason why they haven't won a world series in over 100 years. Edit: I forgot to mention that he hits pretty well for a pitcher too. Cobs! You can make a good argument that Ted Lilly has been more productive than Zambrano over that stretch. much better, actually

Z's problem is that he gets demonstrably upset while in public, not that he's not a great No, Z's problem is that he's steadily been declining for several years now. He is no longer even in the same category as any of those pitchers you mentioned. Not even close. He hasn't posted a WHIP under 1.29 since 2005. His K/BB hasn't been above 1.86 since 2005. Z was an "ace" in 2004 and 2005, and that's it. Since then, he's been a solid number 2. Oh, and then there's the fact that his body has started breaking down the last couple years. Honestly, I'm scared of where Zambrano's career is headed.
  4. Marshall has serious durability issues and has been terrible the second half of this season. Any sane GM would not go into a season relying on him to be healthy. Why are you assuming that his second half struggles have to do with durability and usage? Last year he was a little better in the second half than in the first..... why didn't he fade down the stretch last year? There might be something to the "Marshall has trouble pitching a full season" stuff, but now it's like everything is automatically being attributed to that, and people are just assuming it's a fact, when really it's just speculation. Marshall getting shelled tonight? "Oh, must be because he's tired." Marshall had a bad August? "Yup... typical Marshall"
  5. Grabow's career WHIP numbers, starting with this season 1.42 1.28 1.45 1.41 1.37 1.77 And his career splits vs lefties aren't drastically different like you'd expect from a loogy. He has a 1.33 career WHIP vs lefties. Why do we want to give this guy a multi-year deal again? It's one thing paying for relievers. It's another thing to pay for crappy relievers.
  6. I agree. He does still give up one too many walks and HBP's, but typically strands the runners when they're in scoring position. Not to mention that he has only given up only one run. P.S. Lou, if he does end up getting too wild, PLEASE do not go back to Gregg - he was the MVP for our opponents this year. :banghead: Grabow or Guzman are good alternatives, but please, no Gregg!! :glare: I doubt Gregg is on the team next year
  7. I don't understand why so many people don't realize that Grabow sucks. I don't care how much the contract is worth, grabow doesn't deserve a multi-year deal. He blows.
  8. Guys, Cutler and the WRs were both terrible tonight.
  9. Whatever. The defense was great the whole game. They had issues at the end when they had guys like Hillenmeyer on the field. You can't pin this one on the D. And Cutler was screw by his receivers all night long. But how many times do we have to see the defense give it up on the final drive? They did it ALL last season, and they did it again to start this season. When the game is on the line, they always give it up. They play good and then choke at the end
  10. I think 9-7 is pretty optimistic for this team, especially considering theyre pretty much guaranteed to be 0-2
  11. Hahahah I forgot they go to Pitt next week 0-2 just like that
  12. Nothing has changed with this team. -A moron for a coach who still doesn't understand how to save timeouts -No wide recievers - Defense that constantly chokes at the end of the game. When the game is on the line, the defense always gives it up _Qb throwing picks all over the place Seriously, nothing has changed. Cutler will be better than what we've had, but it won't really matter.
  13. could the bears possibly have had a worse first half of the season? seriously, that was embarrassing in pretty much every aspect of the game.
  14. Lovie isn't calling the plays. That's all Ron Turner. yeah i changed it. i was complaining about him not taking the timeout right away, but i thought it was only 3rd down and not 4th
  15. WHAT THE [expletive] ARE YOU DOING
  16. i think cutler would have had the 1st down if he just went straight and didnt try that extra move
  17. the bears are completely falling apart
  18. wait, so cutler sucks now because of a bad first half? He'll be fine, but c'mon people are allowed to gripe when their QB is 6-17 0 TD 3 INT in his 1st half of football after we traded 2 firsts and whatever else for him. I don't even think Rex had a half that bad with the Bears no i'm not defending his play, he's been pathetic. but let's keep this in perspectivce and try to avoid the "cutler is a bust!" stuff I'm pretty sure the people who are saying that don't even mean it and are caught up in emotion. i know
  19. hahahah lovie actually loses a yard on a challenge. this is going so well.

  21. no. if he fumbled into the endzone before he stepped out it's a touchback aand bears ball
  22. wait, so cutler sucks now because of a bad first half?
  23. package one or two of those receivers with cutler and try to get a stud wr
