  1. the brewers won 96 games. how many wins is fielder worth? they should still be good with gallardo/greinke/marcum and a decent offense.
  2. it wasn't until they fired quade that it fully sank in that we have this front office. we go from jim hendry to this? could it have worked out any better?
  3. jim edmonds would never ever sign with the cubs
  4. ok, i've ignored it since it became an "issue", but now i have to know. what is this crane kenney thing even about?i don't live in chicago, and i never ever read anything from the chicago media (or the media in general, really). i check sports site's for information and that's it. i have no interest in reading sports collumns. from what i've gathered while casually glossing over the kenney talk on this board, it sounds like a lot of people irrationally hate him, and then the people on the other side make fun of them for caring so much. my question is, what exactly do people hate him for? i don't even know what crane kenney does. do they dislike him for legitimate reasons, or do they just think he's a dick? i don't get why his name is always brought up and argued about.
  5. that's not unrealistic. pujols was great last year, but he wasn't 1.050 OPS albert, and they still made the playoffs without wainwright. wouldn't the return of wainright offset the .915 OPS or whatever that labert gave them last year? then again, you probably can't expect berkman to duplicate his 2011 season
  6. yea he makes me feel uncomfortable
  7. Don't underestimate N&G. He could make you kill your own family if he wanted to
  8. Tsss...Tss....Well if he's leavin' then he's probably looking to secede or sumthin. Tsss. Explain this weird-ass "tss" thing. it must be an aspergers side effect
  9. Well, I mean I have little interest in him if he's going to cost what I think he's going to cost.
  10. i loved tortorella trashing thornton after jumbo called the rangers soft (after a game where the rangers won 5-2)
  11. Am I the only one who feels better about our chances at Pujols/Fielder now that Aramis is pretty much gone? Like someone else said, if we don't re-sign Aramis AND miss out on Fielder/Pujols, our offense is going to be embarrasingly bad next year. I can see Theo/Hoyer viewing this season as kind of a transitional stage where they try and start setting things up for down the road, but I don't think they're going to let the team tank this year, and that offense would tank pretty hard. I think the fact that they're not spending the money on Ramirez makes it more likely that they plan to spend big on Pujols/Fielder.
  12. The difference is that if/when the replacement(s) tank, we won't be paying them 15 mil to do it. I would have given Aramis 2 years max, and I think he'll probably get 4-5 from somebody else.
  13. Alot of chance probably... they have no other holes to fill, they're desperate for starting pitching, and wilson is the only legitmately good/proven guy on the market. i don't see how they don't offer him AT LEAST 100 million. the yankees number 2 starter in the playoffs last year was freddy garcia. who did they have beyond that? burnett? colon? yeah, they're going to go hard after wilson.
  14. they only need 1 frontline starting pitcher, and then another middle of the rotation guy. garza is a very good second starter,
  15. with the stacked class of free agent starting pitching that iwll be available next offseason, i'm not even that interested in wilson.
  16. Is there any chance at all that the Yankees don't offer Wilson at least 100 million? They are desperate for starting pitching and they know they can get away with overpaying guys.
  17. haha somebody in the comments asked him to make one for jerry hairston
  18. that koivu shot was a pretty obvious elbow, no? i enjoyed it.
  19. he just called ssr bubby
  20. Do most fans criticize him? I know the voices that do are loud (Sullivan/Rozner/Kaplan), but when I've attended games there Ramirez is always among the most applauded players. He doesn't take the onslaught of boos that Soriano does. Yes. The Ramirez is lazy and doesn't hit when it matters idea is very prevalent among the standard Cubs fan. It's infuriating. That part is the most mind boggling. WTF? Half of my Aramis memories are walkoffs and other huge hits. he was so money in clutch spots in 07 and 08 when we were actually good.
  21. god this offseason is so glorious. i don't ever want it to end
  22. If it does not matter that he does them in the minors, then why the critisism? Can't have it both ways. Because if a guy manages that way in the minors, he's probably going to do it in the majors? Was that a real question?
