  1. they made it essentially impossible to enter into a contract like that going forward and used this rule to specifically punish the 6 or 7 contracts that were already signed with cap circumvention in mind. http://www.secondcityhockey.com/2016/3/9/11185632/marian-hossa-nhl-salary-cap-recapture-penalty-blackhawks-retirement-ltir This has a good look at the penalty the Hawks would get if he retired early. If he doesn't retire, he has a cap hit of 5.275m until 2020-2021. If he retires after next year or any of the remaining years of his contract, the Hawks will have a 4.275m cap hit each year for the remainder of the contract he signed. So basically as long as Hossa is worth $1m a year, it is worth having him. My opinion is that even though he is no longer a dynamic scoring forward, he would still contribute in others ways enough for at least the next 2-3 years. i really hope he plays as long as possible, just because he's been my favorite hawk. no matter what happens with the recapture penalty, the acquisition of hossa was a masterstroke.
  2. look at rich hill go
  3. heartbreaking, but at least they showed fight and gave us a little magic. as for st. louis, horsefeathers them. it's time for sharpie and oduya to ease our pain a little.
  4. pietrangelo should have kept his mouth shut

  10. i wouldn't be surprised if they're tight in game 6. losing a potential clincher at home is a real kick in the dick.
  11. is feldman for arrieta/strop a historically good trade?
  12. well, we're almost definitely losing shaw this offseason, so we'll be able to distance ourselves from that pretty quickly.
  13. strongly disagree. the blues are not better. i think the blackhawks are a superior team. the blackhawks stars aren't getting it done, and elliot is standing on his head.
  14. wow that was a pathetic AB by hazelbaker
  15. why do you keep acting like strop isn't great?
  16. seems like they just can't finish this season
